We had a flexi race yesterday so I set up 2 of the new C43.

I found them to be one of the better chassis I have seen as far as being flat. I was told that people have been finding small stress cracks in the rear of the chassis. where the ninety degree bends are. Found that on both C43's I have also. We run Hawk 7 motors, .720 tires and the RTR cars came in at 90 grams. Testing showed that they are a bit better then C25's. The material they are made of is very strong.

I did however end up racing my track record holding Mosette as it was quicker. This is on a 155 ft Hill Climb track. The car I raced RTR was 97 grams.

I am sure with a bit more tuning the C43 will fair better. I think that it will be very good on a flatter track, which it appears to have been designed for, as it turns quite well.

Time will tell.

I wish JK the best of luck with this new chassis.

GVP.

I'm late to the party. posting on 07/12/2019 about the JK Aeolos chassis. Puchased the center piece, aluminum, pan and Jk Bite bar assortment.

Center had a very minor upward center bow, barely any movement when pressing down in the center. A simple tweak took care of it.

The aluminum pan was a different animal altogether. It seemed if I tweaked it to get a small bend out in one place, a bigger bend was now needed elsewhere. That was just getting it flat with out the center under the crossbar.

When the cross bar was in place over the center section, only one side set flat a a time. It took awhile till it both hovered over the center and still remained flat on the side pans. I can envision that any kind of wall shot will be unkind to hurt both the pans and my ego.

Any input of the use of the bite bars yet?

IS there consensus on flat track versus high banks, smooth vs bumpy tracks, as to go thicker or thinner and  as to which bar, front or rear?

If pan is flat with the bottom of the chassis I would not think there would be a huge difference in pan height with aluminum pan.

The aluminum pan is very difficult to get to lay flat and make sure all dimensions are correct due to the material being to soft.  Yes I want something lighter, but still run the regular pan for the X43 no mater what.

I am using the largest bite bars i can on high speed tracks to limit the movement and then middle of the road if not smaller for the flat tracks, allowing it to move more.

Given the last post on this thread was 2 years ago, I'm bringing this thread to the fore in case there are some notable additions people are willing to make on setup and handling

I just received a 3D printed pan for the JK43 yesterday. No chance to mount it yet.

Also bought one for the Mosetti chassis.

Pictures would help.

3D printed with what material?

sounds like it will be bulky and or fragile to me, but what do I know.

You can view the items on the Shapeways website. Set the search bar there to "Designer" and enter "rapid_slot"

On their page of products, scroll down.
At that point, what you are after will be obvious, as it is pictured

When on the Rapid Slot FB page, you need to scroll further down to find the replacement pan for the JK and Mossetti chassis. It may look heavy, but it is advertised as lighter and stronger than the aluminum versions that bend when looked at wrong.

It was designed by Steve Grider, a racer from the group at Downriver Raceway in Michigan. He also designed the inline car pictured and I believe he worked with Mike Swiss to 3D print the mold for the fantastic looking Chicagoland  IRRA F1 retro body.

The Jk43 aluminum pan is not wall friendly.

The Printed pan is flexible and comes back into shape. Could have accurately named it "Harvey Wallbanger"

Due to being out of town all week I finally had a chance to run the 3 D printed pan on my Jk43 chassis. We ran an LMP race. I used a BB52 motor, and finished second, a few laps behind Jeff, the owner of the track. This was without much time to really tune the car with a change of gearing and tires.

I let a few guys take some laps after the race. Pete Varlan laid down times that would have have clinched fast lap of the race.

Yes. It whacked a few walls, and made a few flips to the floor that would have made an Olympic gymnast jealous. The pan was absolutely straight, went directly back to the track, and finished the race.

The aluminum pans would have been crippled.

I would recommend it whole heartedly.

I witnessed the above mentioned cartwheels and I would agree that Dave would have been sidelined if he had run an aluminum pan (which he has done before, to everyone's regret).

In words of one syllable... it works.
