Hey guys, sorry I missed you on Saturday, some family stuff popped up that I has to take care of.

I did get a chance to race on the small track at qmart a couple times though, and I was at T&L tonight for the lvrcs meeting.

2 questions: is there a general thread for T&L or about the races, since this thread is more about the track rebuild?

Second, can someone point me to general info on gearing? I've been searching and I find a bunch about specific scenarios but nothing generalized in terms of how it effects your setup.

Rob,

Ask us your specific questions about gearing. Track, voltage, body type, tire size, and race duration are all helpful.

Rob - If you are on Facebook, search for "Trains and Lanes Hobbies - Slot Car Racing."  Jay posts race schedules and results as well as other stuff on a regular basis.

I believe track voltage on KIng and Altec is 13.2.  King is batteries; Altec is power supply.

Since it looks like you want to race LMP, here are some basics.  Gears are 64 pitch -- pinion is mandated 11t -- most successful spur seems to be 36t.  Tires are .700 or .720, depending on your axle setup.  Some people are running JK PP's (premiums), some are running PPT's (treated).  Bodies -- thankfully so far it is not a spec series.  Some people are running Lola's (JK, Red Fox and Hirschmann), some are running Audi R10's or R18's, and there are others as well -- I think Jay is going back to his Bentley.  Again, Jay posts pics of the cars every race.

Come on out, plan on starting slow and learning, and you should have fun.  Up coming LMP races 11/11 and 11/18 @4:00 pm.  And if you want to see some stupid-fast racing come watch the Penn-Jersey racers on 11/19.

So the reason I ask about gearing is so that I can understand basics and start playing with gearing in different track situations. I have been driving the king or the junk track at qmart quite a bit. The qmart track is small and low voltage, can't be more than 11v.

I'm assuming the handling track would benefit from gearing that pushes acceleratio over top end.

Do I increase or decrease gear ratio for faster acceleration?

Right now I have the 16d motor with adjustable timing. I saw on the lmp rules that you have to run the proslot motor?

I'll be at T&L tomorrow morning. I'll pick up some different spurs and an 11t pinion and see what works.

Blue & orange thanks for the info dump! I'm just trying to keep from coming off the lane right now and working my way up to more speed later.

I want to stop up and check it out again, I was there for a bit 2 Saturdays ago. I have the 16d motor with adjustable timing, do I absolutely need the proslot motor to race?

Hi guys, I hope everyone is well. I've had the opportunity to drive quite a bit both at T&L and qmart lately, which has been awesome.

That being said I feel like I can be consistent enough not to piss anyone off (although I'll be a lot slower) and start joining in for lmp class.

So to do this I'll need to switch out the motor and entire rear (gears, axle, tires, etc) does anyone have a rear axle setup that they would be willing to part with?

I could pay or trade with airbrush work.
