Sir, while there are at least two good anglewinder build articles that you've done in the past, CM Oct 68 (Team Nutley's Winning Eastern Chassis) and CM Jan 69 (Latest Bat Pan Plumber chassis), there are no inline builds. And now you say there are no inlines still exsisting.
What about YOU doing a real "vinatge" inline build just like you would have before the AW hit?? I'd love to see you do one, and I'm sure many here would too, right Rick?. Plus you'd be bringing back the way it was really done and then at least one would exsist.
If you need parts I'm sure we could get other bloggers to chip in stuff just to see you do it inline again.
So what do you say, sir??? Please??? LOL...

I do have some parts to build a Mike Morrissey rplica that Rick has kindly sent me and I have been kicking around the idea with Noose to build a few old style replicas using modern wheels and tires so we have period looking chassis for our Lotus 40 and 2D Coupe bodies. Let me see what we can come up with.

( Mr. Burns' voice from the Simpsons.)..."Excellent!"
I also love the Lotus and Chappy bodies but have yet to put anything under them. Between Noose and you I can't wait to see these!! YES!
Thanks!!!

As for this anglewinder (sorry Edo!) goes, it was a fun car to build. Tony's 2-piece motor box meant I didn't have to ask Steve Okeefe to bend up a 1-piece unit for me LOL! Fitting the 1/4" brass strip between the rear uprights was a bit of a pain. After I showed the pictures on the Blog Tony emailed me and said the strip was supposed to simply sit on top of the rails not fitted between them.....DOH!
Of course Tony's right about the wheel inserts for "real" Pro cars. In these later era cars I've only seen pictures of wheel inserts used in the Concourse cars through 1969 or so. When I raced back in the day I always entered the Concourse as well as the race so that's how I like to build cars today.

Check out the amazing details:
Tony, I got rid of the wheel inserts. I don't know if you ever used Associated wheels as they were a West Coast product but.......
This is the finish of another fun project, my second from my recent project trilogy. Next up, number three, my favorite ..................

Tony, I don't remember the names of all the women I dated back then, but I can remember every BUILD!
Sigh.
Anyway, I don't know about you, but I would have stripped the paint from the rear of the can and soldered it to the main rail. I did a few chassis like this and always did that.
But I am certain you can remember your inlines.....GO!

RICK,"That's not a wire bender........
.....this is a wire bender!"
My buddy Steve Okeefe found these big beauties and modified them like so:
They put a nice little radius on the wire and prevent it from fracturing. Even better they allow us to make VERY accurate bends. Here is the email I sent Steve the first time I tried these out titled "HOLY FREEKING SMOKES!"
That is indeed a wire bender
Where did you find those wire benders? The red handle ones. I like the way they seem to work..

Steve Okeefe made them up for me Phil. He heavily modifies whatever in the heck they started out as. The only marking on the thing is "Taiwan"....no surprise there .
Hi Duffy,
You've been mentioning 1/32 scale lately. Therefore please riddle me this , if a 1/24 scale Lotus 11 looks like a 1/32 scale car. Will a 1/32 scale Lotus 11 look like an HO scale car? If so, would an HO scale Lotus 11 simply disappear?
Hmmmmmm.......

The bender Rick has pictured is a modified Zee Bend Bender, avilable at most hobby shops and they are BIG! Steve has modified it to the state you see. Cost about 20 bucks and 15-18 inches long. There was a pic somewhere to show the before and after for this mod, someplace. I saw it a couple years ago.
I made a fixture to make those motor boxes in one piece, I'll have to find it. I think I sent a couple to Rick to try out? Not certain any more. If I fin it , I will bend one and post a pic.
Build on Sensi.................
