Wow. I’ve been cleaning sealed Falcon, Hawk and PS4002FK motors in mine for years....sometimes I just remove the springs and brushes and dump the whole car in. Comes out super clean and ready for lubing and storing away...haven’t noticed and problems. Maybe I have just been lucky...

My ultrasonic cleaner heats, mine holds about a quart and I put about 2oz of Castrol super clean in it, stick the whole chassis down in it with the motor out and tires off if they are any good, cleans me up gets all the track grime and acid off. I take them out, dry them off and oil them up.
I dont race Cobalt stuff anymore but I still have the habit of taking the motor out of everything before I leave the track.
Get a heated one!!

FYI- I use dish washing soap and water in my ultrasonic and it works pretty well. I used a solution of water and Simple Green on a set of wheel covers from my vintage Vampire and it removed all the chrome plating.
