The fifth race was December 2 at Peter Pan. Mini Wheels was the last January 20. We know Glen Oaks was September. I think the other venues were Vic's, where Ed Sohl split the Cobra twins, and Lynbrook? and of course Upper Saddle River.
Glen Oaks was Can-Am.
Upper Saddle River I am sure was Can-Am.
Mini Wheels was F1.
That would make USR the fourth race in the series.

I raced at Hobby Track but not Vic's. Wasn't there a Brooklyn race as well at Hamilton?
Wait, you spoke with Charlie Harris?!

Looking through my CM magazines, I found mention of all the races. Glen Oaks, Levittown, Vic's, G.P, Peter Pan, Mini Wheels, in that order. I have a couple of the race reports, but I am missing a couple of issues in that timeframe... still have to sort through all of them and get them in order.
Interesting that they covered the California races in a big way, but the other CM series gets brief mentions either in Racing News or the East section of "Coast to Coast". Also, the Arco races got bigger reports.

The race in Levittown at Hobbytrack I am pretty sure was a stock car race. I remember running a '68 Charger body. Still have it!!

It had to have been a later race. Edsel and I were talking about it recently.

Why do I feel that like this is Ancestry.com?

Because everyone who is posting is an old geezer... LOL!
But that's OK, at least you're not discussing your aches, pains, and/or medical issues...

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

That Hobby Track race was where I got my box stolen. The raceway was packed and my box was near the back door so somebody must have grabbed it and walked out. I had my car with me and my controller around my neck (as was the fashion) but everything else was gone including my latest Magwinder...

Some recollections from Hobby Track. I remember it being so packed, I never got to take one lap in practice. Was the track a Hillclimb, with crossovers?? I must admit, that throughout the race, I lost my car several times. Between massive amounts of adrenalin, never seeing the track, and no practice, I just couldn't follow the track, nor my car.
I do remember, our shop owner, Lou, driving us there. So, the alien takeover was not present, for that day.
Fred... didn't steal your box. So, that's one down and about 100 to go.

By the second Car Model series we went there to practice for the NASCAR race and the track was horrible. So bad I would not go back on race day.
I think Ed Sohl won.

It wasn't a Hillclimb but some weird track I never did see before or since, thank god.

Tony,
I think the statute of limitations has passed, so you are OK.

I know it wasn't you guys. Al couldn't have lifted the box and Tony couldn't have fit through the back door...
Just kidding... you could have worked together!

Al is right about the track and practice. You had to hope to grab a lane for a few laps and the track was 220 ft with the car dropping out of sight in the bank. As soon as you came off and went to get your car someone else would take your lane.
I did win the NAMRA F1 race there later that year.

So, it wasn't a hillclimb... Hmmm, anyone have a picture of the Hobby Track track?? I do remember going into the bank (left to right), but, then, the car disappearing.
Fred... keep it up... You may find a rattlesnake at your doorstep. I know where you live.
