I picked up the body mounts today, with material they cost me $4.

So we have choices here.

They had a issue with the small hole, I saw that in the sample the other day, I told them I could take care of that.

My thought is I would make some tooling and drill the small hole trim the connection tab and do the bending for a extra $1.

So, flat RAW as cut $4 each.

FINISHED $5 each.

Should figure $5 for shipping (48 states)also.

P.M, me with your confirmed order (please be clear, Bandit and/or Renegade) and address unless you already have.

Those look great Martin! Also I originally thought the small holes in the tabs were 1/16" (.0625") but Gene passed down to me that the holes in the tabs are #48 (.076"). Apparently that is the size for standard body clips.

Thanks Larry, Matt.

I wonder what kind of clip you could use? wouldn't you need 2 holes per side a distance apart?  I always thought that hole was for a self tapping screw for when your body rips open in a big wreck.

Maybe a donation to Slot Blog after you receive them and are happy.
I am about a week to10 days away from having  enough for all our SB folks.
They cost me a couple of bucks. But I am happy to give back to SB,a place I get pleasure from.
The process I am using will give square corners where they fit to the body and my goal is to make them identical to the originals.

I thought you said yours would have square corners.

Your corners are radiused as large, or larger, than the one Geary / Backtrack, CNC milled, for me.

And now you seem to be selling them.

They will be finished with square corners and bends just like the originals. Stay tuned I will post pics.

They are being sold at cost or traded for items I need for my builds.

These are parts that I and friends here had planned to make for over a year. Larry's CAD was a jump start to get it going, I modified it to get the Renegade mounts. With Genes body's we can make cool replicars without damaging originals.

At the end of the day several folks here hopefully feel like they got a good deal and I for one will give back to Slot Blog. Lets keep this great place to share strong. With out SB it I am alone with my stuff that no one else cares about. Trade, share, build. All good.

I will be spending many hours finishing these parts. Looking forward to seeing some Dynamic builds.

Can some one walk me through the steps to make a donation. When I went to the store I get this. Might help others too?

Or maybe I am the only one that cannot figure it out?

I may have to make another run. a few of the mounts were not good. They tried to cut the small holes and they came out in the wrong place. Just on a few.

I have enough to cover all that paid. I just do not want to be sending refunds.

Please check with me via P.M.on stock that is left.

Should have enough. But want to be sure.

When I know more I will let you know.

Your bends looks cleaner than the original! You might want to throw in a bit of slop just to keep it real. ;-)

Seriously though, having trashed a mount from my original batch during a bending attempt, I can attest that getting a nice sharp bend is harder than you'd think. So Martin, can you post a pic of the device you used to bend the tabs? I'm familiar with regular sheet metal brakes but the area where the tabs are located is so small.

Hey Larry, simple process simple tools I am a simple guy. But I will show the steps I used at some point.

Worked on these mounts most of the day. Back at it tomorrow.

Buy the way Gene is correct about the size of the small hole. I went to our local hardware store and bought the only two #48 drills they had. It fits my original perfect. Not worth taking a chance on something close I had in my shop.

Still think it was intended for a self tapping screw. Why is it off center? Any theories?

So I know I've groked on this WAY too much but I wondered the same thing. And I noticed that the offset positions the holes exactly equidistant between the front and rear axels and I don't think this is a coincidence. But why would it matter if a hole that's not going to show have perfect symmetry? Then it hit me (as did my second martini) ... originally Dynamic planned that a mounting screw would be there and the stylists wanted it to be symmetrically pleasing. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it.

Or... the offset holes align perfectly only on the winter solstice. Yeah, I'm gonna go with this one instead. The Druidic overtones are just way cooler than straight up nerd.

Maybe there was no thought as to where to put the screw hole.    Maybe the shop was just told to put a hole in that center part and that is where he set up the tooling to do it.

We may never know what the purpose of the small .076" holes are but I just spent a good part of my day making a jig and drilling a bunch of holes.

As I am drilling, I am thinking why is is not in the middle of the tab? should I move it to the middle? No then its not original. Got to keep it original. You know the drill :laugh2:

Pretty close to the bottom of the barrel.

If there is more needed I will do another run.

I can start a new list if you can wait?

All that have paid are taken care of, just got to get my butt in gear and get them finished. I have a good method/tool to bend the Bandits but now have to make a tool to bend the Renegades.

I love mini production lines. It will be faster next time as tooling will be made.

Thanks Guys,

I want to commend you. You 'finished" these mounts to a ready to use status as any perfectionist would.

The quality looks incredible so any Bandit or Renegade would be proud to have your component on board.

Thank you for your excellent effort!
