They look even better in person!  Absolutely perfect!

Pablo got the color damn close to a perfect match to my original Renegade. I think the 60 year old body has discolored, (yellowed), contributing to the SLIGHT difference between the old and the new!

Muchas gracias señor.

Now I have to find a set of the correct rear wheels to finish the second car.

With all the Bandit threads, wasn't sure where to put this, but this one popped up first!

Just ran across this photo of the Bandit and Renegade in the Christmas issue of Model Car & Track, December 1966.

Dynamic page-MCT1266.jpg

Yep, both bodies attached with screws and not the tab-slit arrangement! Maybe these were prototypes, or just cobbled together for the photo, but Dynamic may have changed their body mounting method somewhere in the development process.

What I guess from this add is this, Dynamic had the brass Renegade mount as the pic shows it on the Swinger with its injection molded slots.

So what was missing is the tool to cut the slots in the vac body's (and they did not have a Pablo on hand) so to get cars ready for the mag add they reverted to the standard T shape mount they had in stock.

Notice they did not have the paper numbers either. So I am sure these were pre-production examples readied for the Christmas rush many weeks before, due to print times.

Good to date these models. Did the Super Bandit come soon after this date ?

Can't find an ad for the Super Bandit.

First ad I ran across for the Bandit is May 66 in MCT; there's another ad in the Feb. 67 issues of MCT and Car Model, but it's still for the Bandit. However Western Hobbies ran ads in the Jan, Feb and March 1967 issues of MCT: in the Jan and Feb issues, it only lists the Bandit, but in the March issue it has both Bandit and Super Bandit.

So yes, Martin, the Super Bandit seems to have come out shortly after this - Now, in the May 66 ad, the bodies were mounted with screws -  you'd think by December they would have taken on their final form.

May makes sense for pre-production models, but December makes less sense, unless the release was delayed by a lot...

Or did they just use the same pics or the same models for new pics in this December add?

It states "new Dyna -Flex" chassis for the Swinger. Did you find this is the first use of the of the Dyna-Flex in a production car?

I see D-F was available as chassis components also.

Notice the Swinger is not in its final Black injection molded plastic. But looks like it is the blue molded AMT car.

Looks like they came out with the DynaFlex chassis and the Hussein about the same time, Martin. Both announced in an ad and article in October 66, in MCS and MCT.

December isn't a Dynamic ad, but a Xmas review in the magazine - but probably with factory photos in any case. So even tho the car had been out a few months already, like you suggest, they probably used the old photos - and they fact that we never noticed that detail before probably proves they were right not to pay attention!
