Just got back from Trains and Lanes in Easton Pa. I took the “mule” out to test it on the road course to see how the brushless motor would perform. Loaded the Castle quad mag rotor motor 4100kv in and onto the American King we went. A 4ohm Koford 3 wire road controller in hand and guess what happened. Jay Lanzino had the most fun driving that car around the King WITH brakes ! It was a little bit clunky for his liking but it went around good. Sooooo we loaded a 3600kv Maxx Prod. Motor and back Jay went to the 220 ft Allteck . He really liked the way that was working, and it wasn’t as twitchy. He said the brakes worked like they do on a Hawk motor that they race there. It is very drivable on both road courses. I left a couple of setups for Jay to test “ in a real car” for some comparison. It didn’t get hot, the controller didn’t get hot at all. I guess we can say that this test was a success!
I do have a video that is about 4 minutes long that I’m going to try and edit some so it can be posted.
Thank you for the interest !

Great info Tom, and I'm sure of great interest to a lot of the slot car racers here. Thanks for all of the effort you have put in and for the info you have posted. I hope to hear of more testing results in the near future.

Tom,
Are you using sensored or sensorless brushless motors?
Is your switch compatible with either type of brushless motor?
Thank you.

Sensorless brushless motors are what works with the switch. Sensored motors won’t ......they think too much lol.
I need help with Where to start a thread on road course brushless stuff here on the Blog. What do you guys think ?
Should it have its own topic ? Can the administrators help out ?

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the info in regards to senorless brushed motors.
Since you are discussing the merits of "brushless motors" to employ on a road course, I believe the topic should be in the "Motors and Motor Building" forum.
That is where "motor" discussions usually happen, which is why I suggested that forum.
What do you guys suggest please?
Thanks again Tom.

Go for it Tom!
I reread the posts, and I like the fact that you stated, the BMs have a "soft start off the line" (not in those exact words) which should make it more drivable for me - LOL!
Thanks Tom.

Hi Tom,
I hope you won't mind that I'm posting your video that I found on YouTube: https://www.youtube....h?v=-4jlIaMKPHM
It is exciting to me, to see how well the car runs with the BM!
What setup was used when the motor was run on the road course please; inline or anglewinder?
Do you find one setup runs better than the other please?
Thank you.

Ernie,
He switched over to a new thread.
Car in the video is an anglewinder.
