Dom,
I made the mistake, a few days ago, of trying to pull the first black run of it, under the strip, while it was still coiled loosely, in a box.
BTW, in Illinois, we call silver duct tape, "Wisconsin Chrome".

Three more runs to go.
Monotonous work, but not as miserable as I envisioned.

A flash pic, from the bottom, shows how tight the routed, oval shaped holes, are for the taps / braid drops.

Not as crowded as I expected. Probably everyone is staying home because you are making so much noise working on the track that they can't hear their cars. LOL

I have a couple large distributor orders to tend to, but I should be running cars down the strip, in anger, in the next 3-7 days.

It's 2/0, super-flexible, welding cable. 64 total taps(16 per lane, per polarity)
IOW, there is a feed every 4 ft., with a few closer, at the end of the track, due to where the legs happen to be placed.

He got real close to that a bunch of times. The big surprise? His hardbody king track car is getting competitive times with an all-out harbody "no bar"
car. Who would have thought? I'm learning a lot about current drag cars, a lot different from what I last ran almost 35 years ago.

As pictured, as one would expect, it struggled for contact.
We added a few more of my brass collars, and a bit of lead, and it finally made a pass, in the mid 10's.
The nice thing was it stayed in the slot, even in the beginning, with the light nose, so I'm happy with the initial smoothness of the strip.
Earlier today, I finally got the right cable extension, I needed, for the tree, so free drag racing the rest of the week.
6 - 9PM, Thursday and Friday night.
11 AM - 9PM, Saturday.
1 - 6 PM, Sunday.

It was nice to have a nice group of guys in there again, both road and drag racing.
Guys were absolutely fine with wearing masks.

The drag racers, these days, are really into having good looking cars.
![20200614_105635.jpg](http://slotblog.net/uploads/monthly_06_2020/post-173-0-63083400-1592150406.jpg)
One of them is a big VW fan.
I really love the Karman Ghia, and it ran great.
![20200613_152856.jpg](http://slotblog.net/uploads/monthly_06_2020/post-173-0-46108400-1592150451.jpg)
Mark Mattei brought by a bunch of his vintage drag racing stuff.
![20200613_183005.jpg](http://slotblog.net/uploads/monthly_06_2020/post-173-0-86405600-1592150480.jpg)
Lack of usable tires prevented him from running most of it, but we did get a pair of 3/32" axle, large diameter tires, from one of the guys, and carefully drilled them out to 1/8".
Mark then skimmed them on his 2 True, and was able to run.
An early run on only 12.0V, yielded a decent 1.38, with it doing a low wheelstand, a good portion of the track.
Any runs on higher voltage brought the MPH up slightly, but hurt the ET, as the car just got more and more, unstable.
![20200614_090404.jpg](http://slotblog.net/uploads/monthly_06_2020/post-173-0-47228700-1592150503.jpg)
We played around with adding nose weight, and adjusting drop arm, spring tension.
Finally, the light bulb went on in my head, and after running the car with rear end up, I suggested to Mark that he change out the 55(?) year old, rear axle.
Switching to a Koford $1.49 "modern" 1/8" axle really made a difference.
Here was the best ET it ran.
![20200614_090310.jpg](http://slotblog.net/uploads/monthly_06_2020/post-173-0-20525700-1592150535.jpg)
I thought the motor ran great.
In this run, it got up to a nice 55 MPH.
The car still needs quite a bit of work.
The vintage guide is a pain to deal with.
It's not very big, and changing braid is a bit of an ordeal.
I think Mark will switch to a better vintage one, like a Cox.
All the times shown were on less than 16V, so I'm sure a sub 1 second run is in it's future.
