Mark, I'll miss the whole weekend.    I wondered if the book was about somebody  that actually found old  Bugattis "in the barn".

For 1:1 racing it has to be Mark Donohue and his book Mark Donohue-Technical Excellence at Speed, The 12 Hours of Sebring with the 24 Hours of Lemans a close second, and the most awesome race car of all time, the Sunoco Porsche 917-30.

As for Slot Cars my top pick would be multi-time World and National Champion Paul Gawronski, without question one of the best ever.

Wow. I drove her T-35B when it was owned by Ben and Irv Rose. Rene Dreyfus had much good to say about her,

despite accusations she was collaborating with the Nazis.

Mark, that sounds like an interesting book, I will have to see what I can find about availability;   sometimes it takes me a year or two to find an affordable book!

I thought I saw an in car video for a Mclaren Canam car a day or two ago.    I started watching but didn't finish it and now I can't find it.   Was that in another thread and I am looking in the wrong place?   Does anybody else remember it?   I think maybe Dave or Martin posted it.

Matt, it was this one. Give him 1 minute .40 secs to warm up, then hang on.

I must have forgot to press the save button. Its gives a great IN CAR view of what these Can Am drivers were experiencing.

I felt like I did not need coffee after watching. What a buzz. Enjoy :)

That's it Martin, I saw the beginning of it, maybe  I stumbled into it on Youtube?   I thought it was in this thread.   It's a great video  and really gives you a drivers view.

Hap Sharp is always kind of overlooked.   I think he was Jim Hall's partner in the early days.    He won a few races in the Chap 2.

This is a nice mag from the 60's and they can be found on Ebay and are usually priced low.    Lot of coverage of our favorite era and all disciplines of motorsport.   Not many people are aware of this mag.

Martin, I have about 6-8  different issues and every one is loaded with the stuff we like.    they seem to be cheap because they are not widely known.

Too many books all in plastic bags in a climate control storage area. Since I'm a Ferrari Tiffosi I have road and racing cars from the 250GTO to the F40. Many other makes too (Alfa Romeo Stradale Tipo 33, Lancia Stratos and Montecarlo) also F1 and race track history e.g. Monaco, Watkins Glen, Sebring.
Here is one for my Bburago 1/24 (actually 1/20) die cast 126C4 (1984)

Exactly! I have no good answer to people who ask why I need so many books. I don't think I have read even 10% cover-to-cover, mainly because I mostly buy books for reference material. What really burns me is when I need some little tidbit of information, and I can't remember which book it is in. At least my books are readily available, not stored away. Just the same, if I have five, or maybe more, books on a specific marque, and I can't remember which one has the needed specs, I can waste a whole afternoon trying to find it.

Dave, it's not a wasted afternoon.     Followup readings are like an old friendship.

I used to have wall units that held besides my cars collection a larger collection of military aircraft, armor, naval. Gothic Architecture; Acoustic engineering, sound reinforcement, guitars, tube amplifiers and over 13 feet of pristine vinyl of mostly imports. All that (the books) in heavy clear plastic bags all in labeled boxes in storage.

Books-mainly Colin Comer's books and Chuck Cantwell's GT350 book.

Racing-definitely Shelby's and domestic road racing (SCCA). 1963-1970
