Micro-Ducky says, sitting on a non-recessed block, fronts should be elevated more than normal, assuming the track has the advertised .030 braid recess    :)

IMG_7195.JPG

Ducky body rough-trimmed and set in place. Before I permanently mount the body, I'd like an approval from the race promoter and track owner that this car as shown will pass tech inspection for the "Just for Fun" class.

The gears and a good portion of the chassis/running gear are exposed. (the rear wheels are just for setting the "stance" - the actual wheels are only 3/8" wide and haven't been trimmed yet)

If it doesn't "pass muster", I'll simply change to a different body, change the car name, and move forward.

If it does, I'll attach the bathtub toy body

There are no rules that would exclude Ducky from competition. It is possible that the exposed running gear may cost appearance points. On the other hand, the clean execution of the chassis work is a positive. I am not a judge and judges will not be previewing entries. The "Just for Fun" class is not about realism or modeling accuracy, so judges will be going by which is most "fun". Honestly, there will probably be funnier or more outrageous entries. Ducky looks like it will be pretty quick. Since ET and Speed are 2/3 of the total points, Ducky could win on balance. Here's a tip... Rules suggest suspect that "documentation" is recommended. This is intended mostly to show that a car is in the correct class, is accurately detailed or to allow the builder to point out features. In the "just for fun" class it might be best to use the documentation to  make the judge laugh!

I am very fortunate to have your example of how I hoped racers might respond to this event. Many, many thanks are due.

I look forward to hearing how our the Fedex process on our site works for you. Since you registered early, the "shipping kit" option was not offered yet.

Unless one happens to have the right materials at hand, finding a well sized box and minimum purchase of good packaging materials was difficult and expensive.  I found that by making a bulk purchase, I could send a kit anywhere in the US for less than I could I buy enough materials for one package. So now the kits are offered on every registration.

If you like, I will send you 3 ship kits immediately free of charge in appreciation of your evaluation.   Later this week, I should be posting a video about recommended best packing tips.

If you want try three kits, just PM your address, I will get them right out.

"Birds of a feather, flock together". My ducks get along fine with each other and they feel safe with the Caddy as a bodyguard.

I only need one kit, eh? Thanks Jim  :D

I think for best protection I will send you a double kit.

A trick I am recommending is when sending several cars,  to bind the small boxes together so they ship as one.

Cheaper than shipping separate boxes and more protection than combining several cars in one in one box.

I think the duckies can flock together in one box and the Caddy deserves it's own.  Will send a double box.

For many reasons, we have decided to extend the deadline and reschedule the entry deadline to June 15th. Good news! More time to build! We will continually update this page and our website as things progress.

As a thank-you to those who sent cars early, we will offer the option to have us run them as a test run. We will report results only to owners who may request changes to the cars before race time. We have also given the option of having cars returned at our expense, case you need them for other races before June 15.

My four entries returned from Arkansas safe and sound.

"Rubber Ducky" and Micro-Ducky" took flight and are headed north to Ohio

The owners can enter them in the (rescheduled) event if they want.

Me, I'm going back to my vintage cave, business as usual  :)
