If he went back to CA, his mom must have passed away. Those must have been old FB posts I saw.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Greg's mom was a sweetheart and a real gem, with the eyesight of a fighter pilot. I'm sure Greg inherited that from her, as he is an awesome slot car driver. SCCSA was basically a pipe dream, not a real club. No fault of the racers - just too much distance to travel. I still have my T-shirt though
John Clow and Bud Greene still live close to each other and travel to a raceway in Jackson, MS. that has both road courses and a drag strip. That's where John runs the Mini. How a drag car with six teeth missing continued to make passes, I don't know. John said it was "shimmying" LOL

The SCCSA is more than a pipe dream on FB. Greg was listed as the Admin. Lots of funny car slot car photos posted, The only raceway I recall seeing posted was Charlie's. It only took me a couple hours to get accepted, so someone else must have the Admin permission now. I'll see what develops.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

I guess it depends on your idea of a "club". To me, a club has meetings, dues, regular races and announced events. SCCSA was four guys with the same t-shirts with names on them, who occasionally got together to go race. Rarely did we all four show up at every race.
Greg Gilbert moved to California several years ago, like Swiss said. So 1/4 of the SCCSA membership (the "admin" as you call him) departed Alabama. To say or imply it's currently up and running isn't true.
What is true is before he moved out west, Greg, John Clow, and Bud would go to Charlie's Garage to road course and drag race. John would bring a few drag cars; Greg and Bud would bring boxes full of new ones every time LOL
Now back to Ricky Bobby and his Mini Cooper. The new front wheels are designed for a 3/32 axle so I plan to sleeve them down to 1/16 and make new independent "finger" axles. This time they will be wire instead of brass, in the interest of a little more stiffening

John will be giving the Mini it's second track test at Charlie's Garage this coming weekend if the new spur arrives in time. 3/32 sleeves are held in place with Koford "Gold Billet" short hollow set screws. .063 axle keepers will govern them on the wire axles

Changed my mind on using wires instead of rods for the new front axles. Back to my original design - rods can be tweaked for ride adjustments and easy to re-bend. I made new braces which also strengthen the body mount square tubes and the main rails. Only my second drag build so this is all just theory
John's request for bigger front wheels worked nice
New spur gear scheduled to arrive tomorrow at noon. We shall see

Thanks Tim, I hope so
New spur gear broken in at low volts with a small dot of Colgate. See the dark marks on the mesh? Worked nice. After that I fed her some volts. Spooky good. This time the axle and bushings are "good n tight"
Rear body mount tube moved slightly forward and holes re-harpooned. 100% done and track test #2 will be Saturday

That lady has nice shoes, thanks for posting Martin
As far as red lighting, talk to the driver/owner - I have zero control over that. He lives mostly on facebook
