Model car builders often use a large dia. solder when building headers with intricate bends. They'll combine with aluminum or brass tubing when dump tubes are involved.

Niels, I like how your display backgrounds often appear to look like drift wood. Perhaps they are. The cars are up to your usual high standards, also.

Bill, sorry about the very late answer, but I just saw Your posting (again) :-)  - the background was actually driftwood, found at the North Sea beach where I lived for a few years before "retiring" to the :-) east coast.
This particular piece was originally a piece of a ships spar and I found it on the beach and made it into a bench

Niels, do you still have the opportunity to race your 1/24 GP cars on the Danish flat track that now must be 5 or 6 years old?

Hi Bill, No - I had to abandon the track in the house when I sold it :-(

But there is a nice track in nearby Kolding, which I designed and helped build som years ago.

Those are gorgeous Niels and as Bill pointed out, up to your usual impeccable standards! And you've inspired me ... I found an original Lancer RA273 in a lot of bodies I bought at Buzzy's. Time to fire up the Hakko...

Actually the first "real" 1/24 Retro F1 i built in 2008 was using a original Lancer Honda body :-)

Niels, a motor question, if I may ask. I recall Plafit having Rabbit, Fox, & Cheetah motors. Where does the Fox 10 fit in RPM-wise? I don't think it's a motor available here in the US, but we must have something equivalent. Would the Fox 10 just be an enhanced version of the Fox?  I notice it doesn't have the original Fox's air circulation holes, but the can is closed. I have seen the cars run on the Danish F1 Facebook page.

Bill, the Fox10 run 25.000 RPM's. I knew it from the German DSC Classic series and it has proved to be a perfect motor for the Retro F1's also. The motor is relatively cheap and the motors are as equal as can be to my experience.

It seems that the similar Plafit PF8645 Fox IV motor is available in the US. With a listing of 26.500 RPM's it seems like a good alternative.

Thanks for the RPM speed, that was what I wanted to know. I have a couple 26K RPM motors from H&R that would work. I'll also look around for the Fox IV you mention.
