-Ride height/front wheels/flag/braid/wires all set

-Rear wheels final trimmed at .700 OD giving >.032 rear clearance

-Motor tabs tinned, excess factory grease removed and re-oiled with Mobile 1

-Break in 10 mins at 5 V, draws .45 amps, dead cool temp

-Body pins bent and installed

"Pablo" 16 thou emblem JB Welded to starboard side up front to make it stable in the donut on a King track.  For Bill's amusement and pleasure  :laugh2:  That's about all I can do until the new crown gear arrives  :)

Did you check with your weight scales to determine how much that name plate & JB Weld actually moves the chassis's balance point?  :laugh2:  :laugh2:   I still like my name to be shown on the chassis I build without having to first remove a body.. But my names are hand-written, rather than engraved by machine.  :laugh2:  :laugh2:   I wonder which Isaac would use.  :sarcastic_hand:

Speedy gifted me a Slot-it 27T crown - made in the good old days before Chinese machinists started huffing paint on the job. Width mikes at .400" + and the hub outer surface is polished like glass  :dance3:

Body is done. Noose is a national treasure and I hope he lives forever

Here is how I modify my Slot-it crowns. Stock hole is about .063-ish so I drill all the way through the other side with a 1/16 bit using it as a pilot hole. No drill press, no special tools. Chucked it into a vice and eyeball drilled it

IMG_0010.JPG

Next pass is with a .078 bit lubed with ATF halfway through so as not to ruin the stock threaded hole. Then a .088 bit, then the 4-40 tap, ending up with the stock hole intact and the new 4-40 set screw hole.

The screw in the photo is just for show - it will be replaced with a Koford hollow gold billet. The stock hole remains undamaged as a backup or whatever. Ready for manly horsepower on a full size commercial track  :aggressive:  :)

Final phase of McLaren assembly. 2mm screws provided by Rotorranch. Jeff and I do not buy into the "use the wrong thread screw to bugger-hold the (FK) motor in" theory.  A microdot of red 271 on the screw and a Hudy wrench is all I need.

27T crown at the ready, axle properly sized/polished, and some rough notes on pinion size/FDR choices. Maybe a 9 or 10. I don't want to over-gear a small 1/32 car  :o  :to_become_senile:

An order from PCH arrived today - am I the only one who didn't know JK makes small 64P crown gears? They look perfect for 1/32 fun cars

The Slot-it is already set in the car so I'm not fooling with it. I'll try these on my next small car with FK motor  :sun_bespectacled:

Yours is looking good.

I have some of those JK crowns from the early 2000's bought for some ANE AMCA 1/32 Fis we ran back then. They were either sold as 64 pitch but were actually 72 pitch or vice versa.  I thing there was a Bill Bugenis post on here or OWH that told what pitch they actually were. I got three different sizes, but never used any of them.

I recently found a NORCAL YouTube video for how to set up the Slot-It crowns for minimum drag. If you're interested, I'll send you a link.

The body interior conflicts with the motor a little. If I lived next door to dc-65x I'd ask him to heat and bulge it up a little for me  :D  But, I ain't that skilled with plastic, and I sure don't want to risk ruining a Noose paint job.  :o

So I did the next best thing - opened up some material in the driver's shoulder area. But now the motor can shows through. So I masked and painted that area with a couple brush coats of Tamiya NATO (flat) black paint

Hi Pablo!

Such excellent craftsmanship and a wonderful build!

I've used JK's 64 pitch crown gears for quite some time (I ordered a bunch just in cast they stop producing them!) and they work very well on my cars.

May I ask you please, do you find it more challenging scratch building in 1/32 scale - I'm aware how challenging it is in 1/24?!

Thanks for sharing a great project.

Ernie

Thanks Ernie  :)  The answer to your question is, nothing is ever "easy" here at my workbench. Every time I think something will be easy, it never is. 1/32 is no more difficult than 1/24 for me because, the metals and parts are the same sizes as used in 1/24. There is simply less of it.

HO would be a completely different story .....  :laugh2:

She passes the final drivetrain test fine. Fore/aft balance point is right at the driver's helmet and final weight is 84 grams. This car is for sale, if interested send me a PM

Excellent build Pablo!

The car is stunning to say the least.

The orange color rear tires with the orange painted body definitely bring back fond memories for me.

Thanks for sharing the project!
