The saga continues. At this point I'm committed to buying a house in TN. No more apartments for me.
Courtney Smith found me a perfect buy in short order, 100% professional, just what I needed. I found him on Slotblog

Pablo, Cleveland, TN looks like a nice place in the photos, plus it has slot car tracks. You realize it has limited salt water fishing, so you may have to go after trout & other fresh water fish.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Crappie. Pronounced c"RA"ppie in East Tennesse and "crap" (as in poop) pie further south. Either way it's a great pan fish.

Thanks guys! Oh I listen to the experts all right! That's why I've hired them. That's the first time I've heard the term "landed-poor".
I have assembled a team of experts, which began with my Realtor. They all have my best interests at heart and I trust them.

When the inspector says "let's step outside and talk about this..." and no one else is in the house; it's not good.

I'm just now catching up on this situation, Pablo. Like Don Weaver, Tennessee is where I grew up. I'm a Memphis boy, then schooled at UT Knoxville, but actually graduated from Chattanooga. I worked at a couple of great radio stations in Chattanooga, too. Great radio market at the time. If I'm able when I retire, I might try to call that area my home again. I love the mountains.
As Don mentioned, there's lots of good freshwater fishing in the area with the TVA lakes. Just below Chickamauga Dam, you'll find some of the biggest catfish you've ever laid your eyes on. Massive heads on 'em. Almost enough to give you a scare when you try to pull the hook out!
Good luck on your search, and hope we'll have a chance to race soon.

My house buying goal hasn't changed but I taking a slightly different approach to it as of this week. I thought I'd be able to buy from long-distance and make one trip to move in. I've learned it isn't going to work. I need to be "boots on the ground".
I have my realtor/mortgage loan/insurance team in place and that won't change. All the major preparations are solidified and in place. Once my lease expires here, I'll have an apartment at the new area to move in to. That way I'm there, eyes on. And I can take my time finding exactly what I want.
Easier to deviate from a known plan, than to have no plan at all. That's "Navy Think" LOL
Meantime, I getting cars ready. They race at Bill Pinch's raceway like four times a week

That was the approach I took when I first moved to NH in 1978. It worked out fine for us.
