Are those time slips for 1/8 mile?

My track is 31 feet long…..3 1/2 feet longer than an 1/8. Not going for speed just consistently.

.749 -.752 ?

That's no more consistent than a slow, brushed motor, making passes in a situation where other cars aren't making passes in between.

Probably less consistent.

Don’t you clean the lane every time you make a run ? If not maybe you should give it a try Mike and see how they run.

A brushed motor won’t last near as long as a brushless motor, especially those fk type sealed motors.

I’m thinking that .003 is awfully close for a dial……it also ran 2 .751’s then I stopped.

Guys here, with slow rails, run 1 number, on a 1/4, with passes by other races, in between.

I don't know anything about drag racing, but .003 sounds like it should be really good. It isn't?

It's OK, but the top bracket guys run run 1 number all the time.

IOW, 1.320, 1.321, 1,320, 1,321.

And that's on a track almost twice as long, with ever changing track conditions.

Here's a pass from my fun drag race, 2 days ago.

20211208_080738.jpg

My system shows a 4th digit and JT, in the left lane, hit it dead on.

Where’s the other 4 passes so we can see just how consistent that car is?

BTW you should not cherry pick 1 run and make it seem like that happens every pass.

I have a pin board covered with perfect run time slips, dead on the dial-in  and a perfect light……it took all but 20 years of Saturday night races to get them.

Probably 1 number, making 4 passes without other racers in between.

IOW, enter that brushless car in a race and run it 4 times, over a couple hours and see if it's 3 numbers apart.

It's great that guys are starting to experiment with brushless motors, but I have to speak up when you portray them as something exceptional, like something a brushed motor can't do.

Slow, brushed motor, dragsters, running 3 numbers apart, are a dime a dozen, under those non-race conditions.

"something exceptional, like something a brushed motor can't do"

I ran 1000 laps on king track with no drop in lap times, and will do another 1000 next week, next month...

well,,, I might need to change tires and braid...

That has nothing to do with the drag race claim.

You can buy $12-15 motors that don't need a "switch", that will easily hold 3 numbers in consecutive passes on identical conditions.

“exceptional, like something a brushed motor can't do.”

Tell me when I’ve have done that, a brushed fk motor will make a slot car go down a drag strip and around a road course only until the brushes where out and the com and it goes poof. So then go spend another $12-15 and get a new one.

Did you know a brushless motor won’t do that?

You are the one that labeled the brushless motors “ exceptional “ as seen in the above post.

If you don’t have anything constructive to add you should find something better to do with your time, like putting exotic metal in guide flags.

BTW I lived in the brushed world of drag racing for 15 years, so the IOW stuff you use is irrelevant to the NWO of Brushless Technology.

Tom,
While you are getting free advertisement in it, this is Mike Low's thread, not yours.

I applaud him for giving a real World assessment of brushless, like in post #5, instead of just cheerleading to sell product.

PS-I didn't know brass was considered to be an exotic material.

While I started using tungsten, in the last month or so, in the 3 1/2 years of making them, since I came up with concept, 99.9% of them, have been made with brass.

Here are the brass scraps from about half I've made.

Mike I was answering Richard Mack as seen in post #26….I took some pics for show n tell then showed the results ( in real time ) with the slips.
I hope this helps Richard out.
I don’t mind sharing information with fellow slot car guys. Then you came into the fray…..and started the poo poo as usual.

I agree brushless motors are exceptional. My concern is the esc and the switching delay that cant be avoided.

I would suggest driving a brushless powered car to see if that is really an issue. We have reprogrammed the esc to the point that it acts like a brushed car when coming off the brakes and into the throttle. They work very well on high speed high downforce tracks like Mike Low described.

It’s all prototype’s at this point. Like any new technology, the bugs are getting addressed as it moves forward.

Thank you for the comment David.

:laugh2:  It's all a matter of "perspective' isn't Jim!!?   :clapping:   Brushless motors took over the R/C car and plane  market.  Perhaps over time they will be a valued alternative in slot racing.

Well the aeroplane was the solution, it takes 7 hours to fly from New York to London, and there never has been and never will be anything close to a unified world without borders. They were both wrong on all 3 predictions.
