Paul, it's like a throw back to slot racing in the early days. Simple builds but real attention to details,. Cars probably all run pretty close. The winner is the best driver that doesn't overdrive his car and lane. Makes for fun racing and you can see the cars! Glad you got involved.

The car took a full speed frontal hit during practice and sheared the flag post. So I knew I needed to pin it and I knew the brass tongue would be tweaked. New Cahoza flag is now pinned with a piece of .047 wire and the tongue will be fixed with my Tongue Tweaker. As bent down as it was, it's a wonder the car drove as well as it did in the race
I think I got this Velcro system figured out, so the body is situated much better now

Courtney raced it tonight, despite the car still needing improvements, he did well with it. The work continues. I think I figured out Velcro enough to know by now I do not like it. I'm planning to go to clips or pins for next race.
Experiments with tire hardness are showing me what doesn't work These GRC/Stomp motors are impressive. I'm changing to a Charger body, the Taurus doesn't impress me and the front end got split real good so it gave me an excuse to try something different

some oval track racers will use a softer right front tire and a hard, firm tire on the left front to build a bit of compliance in an otherwise solid and stiff front end.

I tried a harder right rear (WR) and it didn't improve anything. I may have gone a liitle too hard. Maybe I'll try a treated in the future. It seems both of Bill's tracks like natural rubber. Right now I'm still experimenting with the bare basics.
Installed a straighter new front axle, hope that solves the shimmying issue. I found a way to make velcro work for me - combination of velcro with pin tubes/pins punched through the velcro. Like a toothpick though a sandwich.
Rear clearance reduced. New body (Charger) being installed - it seems the top guys are mostly using bodies with rather flat, squared off front ends. Tongue doubled. Cheap (big long) brass spacers changed to Koford aluminum. Etc.
I am having fun figuring it out

for such a simple and straight forward design, the fcr chassis are a lot of fun. what i have discovered and practice regarding simple fcr chassis set up whether running lexan or hard bodies, make small changes and test them out rather than several changes at the same time. a beneficial improvement, however slight, can go unnoticed. for example, i changed to independent rotating front wheels and a tire compound change at the same time. it masked the cars improvement in lap times on the inside lanes. went back to my old tires with nail polish on them (still freely rotating) and my lap times remained improved and stable on the inside lanes. best regards

Makes sense. My fronts are independent and I may try some Sally's. Some guys are doing it, some aren't.

My "toothpick through the sandwich" method seems to be pretty slick. We shall see next Tuesday night. For now, all I can say is the body is where I want it, it's secure, and easy on easy off

My driver Courtney put it on the podium tonight, said it was a huge improvement, zero problems
Now that I have the handling nailed down, a hair more straightaway speed is all she needs. I have a plan for that .......

Hi Isaac
The motor runs cool temp with a 12 and it has the beans for a 13. It's a high speed oval one blip track. I'll try it.
Not afraid of giving away any secrets - most of the "cool kidz" have migrated to facebuuk anyway. Sad but true.

For a multitude of reasons, all of which make sense to me. The biggest ones are, I have a hairline crack in my right foot so I need to stay off it as much as possible, and Courtney is an awesome driver who gives great feedback to improve the cars.
Thanks for the compliment

Thanks Courtney. Last week we were informed of the need to have the tire brand name white lettering on the wheels. So I mounted 4 new right out of the bottle Pro-Tracks straight onto the car at full size. No Hudy.
I walked into the raceway with the car in a Rubbermaid tub with wheel wrench and my Third Eye, that's it. If I can do it, anybody can

Tonight at tech I was told my car was several grams too light. I was unaware of a weight minimum (150 grams), but now I know. No biggie, slapped some weight on left side. It slowed the acceleration slightly but improved the car overall.
It was absolutely hammered in the slot. 4 weeks in a row, #1. I hope y'all understand, my thrills come from learning, fixing, and improving - not winning.

Below are the newest, thicker versions, of the item Don mentioned.
CR137 .040"
CR138 .062"
When I showed them on FB, Troy Beeler, who I think races at Bill's, said he's fabricated a similar item, for a couple of his cars.
But check to confirm it's a legal mod and encourage Bill to get some in stock, if it is.

Thanks Don and Mike, I'm just now fully realizing these are, IMO, a must have item for GRC type chassis. Even a standard deck thickness flag (.063) needs a mile of spacing under the tongue. It adds strength and gets the flag down closer to where it needs to be.
We have an enduro coming up in Jan 2023 and a lot of guys are gonna need these. I custom made my own for my weekly GRC car out of a steel chassis piece but the CR pieces are what I need.
Going to the raceway tonight to see if Bill Pinch has them ....
