Wild car Don, it is on my list of slot cars to build. It's got to have 2 motors 4WD

Yep, that was my plan too, but I wanted to use two little sidewinders, like the Ram DC283 or the Tyco, but they didn't quite fit, so that one's on the shelf for now. 

 

However, I did find another car that already had the two motors: a Russkit Black Widow chassis! Loaned it to a friend for one of our Bordeaux races, it runs pretty well.

Joe Huffaker Sr. began building hot rods as a teenager in the late 1940s. His first sports car build was a 1954 Austin Healy “Huffaker Special” driven by Mickey Marston, which launched Huffaker Sr. onto the Northern California road racing scene and began a journey that included induction to SCCA’s Hall of Fame in 2017.

 

I just met a family member of  Mickey Marston.  Soon to be connect back with the Huffaker family.

Nice tribute. Huffaker projects were a big part of pro/am racing over the years. Joe Sr. passed his knowledge down to his son, who continued to contribute to the sport. As a previous owner of a parts-built Genie, I know how they allowed the ameture to build a competitive car from Huffaker parts.

Finally found a competent machine shop that specializes in corvair's. Thanks to Martin, I might actually achieve my teen age dream of building a Corvair Genie. But, unfortunately the other teen dream of dating her is not happening.

Well, if you can show me some real progress on that project, I have a set of spare body panels for my car you can have. (assuming you don't already have a body)  They are NOS, and were in the shipping container my car came in. You will have to come get them, or make arrangements to have them crated and shipped. My health won't allow me to do any of that.

Thanks Dave, I'll check with Martin, hopefully I can use them. Still have the Cushman golf cart if you still want to build a race version.

Joe and I picked up the molds for the Genie last weekend. Our friend Lee Osbourne working closely with Joe Sr did an amazing job making beautiful fresh molds.

 

I would love to my hands on what you have Dave, if only to compare. Let me know what works for you.

Might be best if I can get them moved to my house from storage. Let me work on that.
These are a set of repair panels, the nose and tail are in two sections, cut up the middle. Since my car was originally Corvair powered, no cut out has been done for engine access. Also have the door panels. These are all original pulls from the original 1963 molds. Perfect for a Friendly Chevrolet recreation.

I have cast these recently for Charles Lawrence in Seattle.
Apparently the car is a Mk 8 Genie.

If that is 1/24th scale I really want one. Looks very well done.   I would display at the Huffaker shop where I work.

They are 1/32 scale. Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

Thanks John, that's too bad. I have only restored 2 Genie's that had that body style, at the shop they were known as MK 5. They were intended for various inline 4 motors. Oh yea and one Corvair.

Mk 8's were a bigger car and where intended for V8's.

 

Mark, I am a 1/24th scale guy only. I had to draw the line somewhere. But I would love to see what you do with this.

I do realize that Mark, how about a 1/1 scale   street version.

I've got 6 usable vair motors, been working on transaxel options. Soon, very soon.
