Got this wreck with some parts. Decided to try and fix it real quick. Not sure if it's a production piece, kit, or scratchbuild. To my eye it looks like a more skilled builder built the center section/motor box and a different builder added a different plumber and floppy pans at a different point. Either way it was super crusty and when I put it in a jig really crooked. Think I fixed it halfway decent for a few hours. Not really sure what motor or guide to use.

After some straightening and jigging. Guessing an older build by it being pass side drive for a EBD motor. Also obviously missing a motor bracket. Rhere are signs of a motor brace at the top of the axle tube.

Didn't really clean it much, as it was so crusty even with a wire wheel it hardly took off any patina. I was able to use all the original parts. I only added a down stop for the plumber action.

Mini Wheels sold chassis parts, I don't know if they sold built chassis. I agree that it was probably built by a skilled scratchbuilder rather than a production item. I believe they were a New Jersey company.

Period korrect appearing mill. 64 pitch spur and a motor bracket. Assuming this drop warm was meant for a Cox quick change? Just need some doubled-up leadwires and a body. I have a few but they aren't quite period. This chassis is modern width by the way.

Just noticed that motor is clockwise rotation! Whoops guess another motor. Might just toss a old Parma 16D in there or build up a Mura out of parts.

Cleaned up chassis more and made a motor mount with a old bracket from the stash. I'll try this semi modern motor just for testing to see how car handles. also added my imaginary aero to a wrecked body from my childhood hah.

That motor mount bracket in post #4 may be a genuine Mini Wheels item. I got one with some other stuff & it came in a Mini Wheels bag, the only Mini Wheels item I own, Parma had a similar bracket I was told.

Cobbled together this Frankenstein motor because I dont know how to build a A or B can Mura out of my parts. It's a Hong Kong can, Mabuchi endbell, post insulators, and a nice rewind arm that I think is Mura. But more period not sure I really want to run it with this tho.

So tried the car with that 90s 16d and it was not happy running backwards. was very slow and got really hot. next trip I tried my Frankenstein motor and while much faster was not that impressive and seemed to run hot. only ended up doing a few hot laps. I pulled the motor because I didnt want to destroy it and it looks like I already melted the the brush guide things in the endbell grrrr.

dug through my junk and found this half melted endbell from my Aguirre stash. I hacked off the brush posts and drilled some holes and mounted sorta modern endbell hardware from a Parma 16d. if this melts again not out much. this would be no issue if I had any stock endbell drive arms just to have a mellow motor to cruise around with.

Also swapped over to 48 pitch gears. the old Weldon 64 pitch aluminum spur was getting really tore up even with good mesh.

I've found that impressive performance is not always fun. Not having to put the car back on the track 10-15 times a lap IS fun. After all, slot racing is not supposed to be a extreme physical sport,or is it?
