1967, I was 15 years old and my Dad would drive me to Bloomfield Family Hobby Center in Bloomfield, CT. That was a long time ago, but I think I remember a 220-foot Engleman track and a bunch of pool tables.

That's about the time commercial raceways came to the state of Maine. I don't have the receipt, but I recall buying a Russkit Carrera kit for $9.98.

Was one of the nicest raceway for that time period. They had a 220' Emperor blue king a Hillclimb plus drag strip. I was never there with any pool tables, may had been there towards the end.

I did clean my glasses and I added all the items, it comes to $18 then I see the total after tax $18.01.

 

Not sure what the math in the middle is all about? School me, Greg, what do you see?

 

But that is a lot of money for those parts back then. We got it good now.

The value has not changed, the currency is worth less,

 

In 1967, the official price of gold in the United States was $35.50 per ounce. This price had remained relatively stable for several years prior, with fluctuations around the $35 mark. 

 

Sooo, that 1967 slot car was worth about 1/2 oz of gold in 1967... Gold is now ~$,3250 an ounce... it's not changed, it's still the same thing, just takes more debt notes to buy one.

I see that, the insert is confusing and, yes, I added it three times and it was still $18 even adding to the confusion.  

 

I am interested in what the Cobra chassis looked like. We are talking about and inline or sidewinder still at this date?

Anybody got pics of what this chassis or motor could have been?

Since this was almost 60 years ago my memory is pretty fuzzy. Since it was a 26D motor, I have to assume this was still inline days, probably a brass rod chassis. I am also guessing that $10.95 for a motor back then means it was not stock, probably a rewind. I am sure that there are some experts on here who not only know the chassis and motor but can provide a photo and part numbers.
