Teflon washers are available to use with aluminum endbells. A NY company that made a lineup of aluminum endbells for different C-cans in the late 90s & early 2000s anodized those for each brand a different color & then applied a clear anodizing to insulate the endbell hardware & screws. Their use was popular when this area had a lot of scale racing.

And lots of shorting problems with Koford - didn't try other brands. But little by little they got better.

I tried every phenolic arm spacer that I had. None fit the spring post.
Dave, believe it or not, all of this has to do with brushes, kinda.

Mak, we used a phenolic "oil slinging washer", slightly enlarged the 2 mm hole with a hobby knife, placed a screw through the spring cup & washer, then screwed it to the endbell. You may need to shorten or remove the plastic nub molded on the endbell & replace it with a piece of brass or aluminum tubing, depending on the spring cups you use.

 

You mentioned elsewhere you liked Proslot's "Gold Dust" brushes. I don't believe they've sold them for several years. I'm not sure what they replaced them with for a premium brush. You could check on proslot.com.
