All of a sudden my Mac gets all nervous when I try to log in to Slotblog, telling me its an unsecure site and that my login info will be sent in an unsecure way, and it really wishes I would just forget the whole thing. Never had this happen before. Any ideas?

Yeah it's kinda scary......What needs to be done to fix it?   I've always had the regular "unsafe" message but not the new one.

Slotblog doesn't have a current SSL certificate for a variety of reasons and that's the reason for this alert.

More of you are now getting these warnings because of software changes made elsewhere, not because of anything that has been changed at Slotblog.

There is usually a method for 'pushing through' this alert and that is what you should do.

Hey Greg, as I run a number of forums, (including our local Slotting forum ASCRA). I have often wondered why Slotblog does not have a secure https:// log-in

We have been using 'Let's Encrypt' for years, without issue smile.png

Was just wondering Why it has remained as http:// all these years ??

I seem to be locked out of most of Slotblog since sometime yesterday. I can't log in on anything but my phone (this computer and my phone were already logged in), and I can't send messages. I get a warning that I haven't got before that the connection is not secure, and trying to log in gets me either a Slotblog database error message, or a message that says something like "Sorry, you don't have permission for that. Please log in."

Guys,

I've been on the road for a week in Michigan and Illinois and won't get home until late tonight.

Will start dealing with this issue tomorrow.

Firefox thinks I'm logging into a North Korean hacker site (J/K) and is throwing up multiple page warnings (this is true) but I power through it despite the safety Nazis trying to keep me from contaminating the Internet.

(about 5 minutes later...) I can't make a post in another thread using the "more options" button. Using it just sends me back to the main forum page....

I have run into this several times here. There is a work around, I'll let Greg explain that to you guys. I have used it not only here but other sites, and have never had an issue.

All the way at the top left corner of the page, there has always been a "not secure" warning.

Greg said he is on the road and will fix it tonight when he gets home.

Sorry, I could not get into my PM on SB. But this works fine?

SSL certificate now installed, as evidenced by the 'https://' prefix on the Slotblog URL.

A few testers are still reporting the 'you don't have permission' screen, which have to do with propogation across the web nodes issues.

If anyone is still having that problem tomorrow, please let me know.

I'm getting, "This forum is not secure. Autofill has been turned off".

And when I try to post I get a warning that my information will be exposed...

The SSL is another way to extract money from website holders. It scares both the holder and the users with false fear of information theft. Lets face it, our phones are gathering more information about us than what is available on Slotblog.

The Caveman Bodeez website didn't use a certificate until recently when payment information began getting accepted and security was required.

I have heard varying prices for said certificate ranging from $250 per year to a monthly charge with no set price. This is on top of any yearly/monthly hosting fees. Websites, such as Slotblog, that don't generally generate income through open sales or fees, are easily silenced.

I still can't use the extended options to post pictures. Once selected I'm immediately returned to the start-up menu... oh yeah, I also get the "data not secured do you want to continue?" pop-up before being thrown back into the start-up page.

Still trying to figure out what more needs to be done. I can't replicate these problems from my end, so I have to ask you all to assist with the process.

Can someone trying deleting their Slotblog cookie and resetting it to see what, if any, difference that might make?

Brian C. is correct about why Slotblog didn't have a SSL before now.

Tried a PM.  I chose the "send anyway" button, but then a message pops up that my message needs to have more than 3 characters and was not sent And even as I type this a message has popped up that this for m is not secure.
