Another fun Saturday of racing at The Doghouse on the banks of Lake Murray in Gilbert, SC.

A relatively small turnout this time, with only five racers. Still, we had a great time. (If you want to see the mugs of this group, feel free to check the photos from our other posts. I failed to take a group shot this time around.)

As the title explains, we used our JK Indy Car chassis with a coupe body. The JKs handle so well, we enjoy the racing from beginning to end. And as usual, we got faster and faster as the races wore on. First, a quick look at the cars...

Front row: Jim Beasley, Dr. Marty Cwiakala, Dr. Bob Feller, Dan Parker

Back row: Richard Sylvester

Our format was to run three races and use the total of the best two, although Dr. Bob was only able to run two. Each driver runs each of the four lanes for three minutes for a total of 12 minutes of racing. Even 12 minutes can feel like a lifetime when the racing is fast and tight. You can feel your heart beating hard in your chest.

On this day, Richard was too fast to catch, although Marty tried very hard:

Congrats to Richard Sylvester, proprietor of The Doghouse.

We haven't discussed the race for October yet, but will likely discuss Thursday evening when we gather for our weekly practice. We'll take some pictures of the racing ghouls and their ghastly vehicles, and we'll be sure to share them here.

It sounds like those JK Indy chassis would be a good platform for tracks to use in a 4" flexi class by just changing body styles every so often,

The JK Indy chassis is a great chassis to have some fun with. Before ASCR closed I played with them with retro Can Am bodies. They were fun cars.

You're absolutely right, Eddie. They handle so well, they don't de-slot often. You can drive them hard and they hold the slot. We enjoy them, which is probably why we seem to hold this class quite often. I'm a fan!

I believe that's correct, Mark. We leave the Indy cars stock with no changes out of the box.I think it comes with a 7, but someone might correct me.
