[Slot Car Rod]

I decided to build a car around a painted Ferrari 330 P3 body/interior I purchased years ago.  An inline chassis was found that seemed to fit the period of the body.  I narrowed and shortened the chassis to fit the body.  A Champion 617 motor was assembled from parts.  The motor can ball bearing was replaced with a bronze bearing.  The wheels are set screw Russkits.  Rear tires are modern fish foam, and front tires are cut down Cox.  BRM brand Ferrari wheel inserts were cut down and fitted into the wheels.  The Cox guide originally fitted was changed to a shorter Riggen guide to better clear the nose of the car.  The car is really fast and handles great.  Lap times were amazing.

Thanks everyone.  Re-bent the main rails that go to the front axle tube to shorten the chassis.  Moved the drop arm and the pans have been cut (shortened and narrowed).  Four main rails per side.  Large diameter front tires.  Everything has been resoldered with silver solder.

I'm glad to hear that this chassis makes for a great handling car. Now if I could only find a couple of Ferret drop arms!

Look for old Ferret or Phaze III anglewinder chassis or kits with the narrow drop arm. I believe they are 1" wide & came both solid & with a rectangular cutout.
