The addition of more bodies and manufacturers would be a nice to extend the cars we are racing. WEC and LMP are very similar in dimensions.

High downforce body is what the A-main drivers will use. But for the B and C main drivers, a little variety won't hurt. Who knows, might find something with better handling.

I love seeing different bodies on the track.    BUT ..... Having a body list - especially a relatively short body list - is HUGE for track owners because it keeps inventory costs down.  Right now, FSCS tracks only have to stock five LMP bodies.  And I'd bet that most tracks don't bother to stock the Mid-America Porsche (#919) as it doesn't seem to be too popular.

 

An "Any LMP Body" rule would mean that the track owners would have to bring in more bodies which ties up money on inventory that could be used to pay bills.  Most of those additional bodies would probably just sit on the wall and eventually become "dead" inventory.  

 

Same thing also happens to the racers.  The last thing I need is more bodies laying around that don't work any better than what I already have.

 

In ways ..... I think the ISRA has the right idea by designating ONE body for some (many? all?) of their classes.

Just a thought. Maybe just add one more to the body list to change things up. I'm not the fastest but sure enjoy of how a car looks on the track.

This would be a nice addition to the LMP lineup. But i sure like the JK Peugeot 908 HDi body.

I misunderstood this title. I thought we needed more bodies participating in the raceways not more equipment sold to fewer and fewer participants.......

Kinda why I miss when jk sponsored the lmp class it made body choice extremely simple because basically everyone was on the Audi.
Im of 2 thought processes with a body rule, it should either be a spec body so everyone will have to work on their tires or chassis more to gain an advantage
Or do massive amounts of testing with a large amount of different bodies to find a handful that are decent but most importantly close enough in performance that body choice becomes preference over actual gains.

Let's just change all the FSCS ckasses to an IROC style race, so nobody has to work on anything , or test anything. We can just go from Lane to lane with the same car. All racers must also use 4 ohm turbo controllers.

BTW .... when we had the vintage Florida Orange (aka: The Biotch By The Bay or the 69er) track with 4" lane spacing .... I "suggested" that the GRRR guys would have to use original Cox Thumb Plunger controllers on that track.  

 

You know .... so they'd have a true Retro driving experience.
