Another glorious day for slot racing at The Doghouse in Gilbert, S.C. on a gorgeous Saturday.

For this day, we had a small turnout due to other events in our racers' lives. Instead of a crowd, we had four of the original members of The Doghouse Gang:

L-R: Dr. Marty Cwiakala, Richard Sylvester, Dan Parker, and Jim Beasley

This time around, we chose to run retro Jail Doors. They might not be as fast as some of the cars we run, and they might even be tougher to keep on the track at times. But they're always consistently fun and a great challenge.

I love the construction of these cars, based on the realism of '60 slot racing. We attempt to preserve the spirit of the cars by using older bodies, too. For instance, mine sits under the green Lotus. The chassis was built by our old friend Don Weaver, who has since moved away from our immediate area. (Don't worry, Don. We still talk about you in your absence.)

We typically run three races. Each racer runs all four lanes, three minutes each. We take the best-two-of-three results combined to determine the winner. (Unfortunately for me, I was only able to run the first two races due to another commitment. Life Happens to us all.)

On this day, the big dog was Dr. C.!

Congrats to Marty. He ran a great race. That also means he'll be in everyone's sites for the November race. We haven't decided when that will be, nor the class we'll run. But one thing is certain: we'll have fun. Keep your eyes open for the results.

Enjoy racing.
