I figured I would share some of my hard body builds before they head off to you know where.

 

Never intended to actually sell them but things change.

 

These were all half finished projects sitting in boxes.

 

Probably best to finish them up and move on, some were started 15 years ago.

 

Got about 25 more cars that need to be finished.

 

Started with an older issue AMT '41 Plymouth.

 

Original full interior retained because I like it that way.

 

Standard Dynamic chassis stuff.

 

Motor is a Frankenstein big Hemi can with a rewound arm and Mabuchi parts, really screams for a large motor.

 

Paint is Tamiya Brilliant orange straight from the can with Slixx decals.

Nice build Joe. I could have used that Plymouth kit when in high school, if it had been available then. I had to build a model of a coworker's 6-cylinder Plymouth coupe he raced on the local 1/3 mi. dirt track. I used the AMT '40 Ford coupe body.

That's an ambitious undertaking especially in the grille area. 

 

This was an unusual subject by AMT.

 

Not a handsome car then or now.

 

I don't remember anyone saying I can't wait for the '41 Plymouth to come out.

 

They did put a little 340 in there which was cool.

 

I have a feeling someone at AMT had the real car and gave the go ahead.

 

My first car was a '48 Plymouth with a flathead 6, Offenhauser dual 1 barrel manifold and a Mallory dual point.

 

The guy wanted $25 for it but I just turned 14 and only had $23 to my name and he took it.

At about the same age, I had my eye on a '48 Ford sedan. My next door neighbor wanted about $100 for it, but it needed a motor. I started saving my money & looking at the J.C. Whitney catalog. A couple months later, I looked out a window one morning & saw my sedan laying on its side in the field. Apparently, a stock car racer wanted the frame to build a race car so he just cut it out & left the rest.
