I have a small home wood track. What is suggested for traction with foam tires? I run Womps and have been cleaning tires with suntan lotion. Concerned that any sort of glue will mess up my track. Painted with eggshell finish house paint.

The two choices are silicone tires and a clean dry track, or foam tires and a bit of glue. You can dilute the glue in naptha and spray it, or dab it on the surface.

I've also glued my track. Be careful using solvents, because over time the solvents will work there way down through the braid and loosen the adhesive. I've learned by experience. I apply the traction glue directly to the track, and it can also be spread with foam paint roller. Traction glue is really just a very viscous petroluem product. The base ingredient is "base oil", the main ingredient is concocting lubricating oil. It can dry out over time, but the main culprit is dirt the sticky stuff can collect and how often you desire to clean the track. The track will get a rubber buildup over time as the foam tires wear on it, and this combines with the glue to provide grip and also creates black rubber tracks which make the track look dirty. I'm I've the opinion most tracks get cleaned because they look dirty and would be better left alone unless they're really becoming slippery or there's too much buildup. The glue and rubber buildup should last until the next cleaning, and that can be months.

Instead of diluting the glue with NAPTHA, try putting just a small amount near the beginning of each straight where the tires would run over it coming out of the corner. Then run a few laps on it. Eventually the glue will get distributed around the entire track. But only where your tires will be.  Spraying the glue can get inconsistent and make a mess. It also saves some glue.

If you have a home track, I would never recommend glue. If youre with foam tires you can clean the tires with lighter fluid. You can clean them with a lint roller , Scaleauto has a foam tire cleaner that works great, but I wouldnt put glue on my home track.

Silicone coated or silicone tires is a great way to do it an keep it clean.
