Hi,

I have this old Riggen VW and I believe it is equipped with Cox parts. I think  the motor is  a Cox Super NASCAR 3600??

Thanks,

Dan

Yes, you're right. In fact, Riggen used whatever motor they could get their hands on for these cars, from the early Revell SP500 all the way to the Super NASCAR. They also used Cox gears and guides, until Riggen developed their own plastic crown gears, which have generally split over the years.

A lot of companies 'bought in' parts from other companies, especially Riggen wheels and tires, used by dozens of other companies.

Hi Don, thanks for the information.  I might pull the motor and use it  in a  Cox car. Will see.

The late Bob Haines of REH Distributing bought up a lot of 60's parts and tooling when American slot cars collapsed in late 60's. He had the Cox tooling for making the black 48P spurs and crowns as well as the Riggen brand. He bought many of the 60's body molds, and I've heard he had cases upon cases of 36D motors including the Cox motors. REH continued selling cars under the Riggen brand based on the 60's parts and new parts from the tooling he owned into the 1990's.

Hi Bill, thanks for the information. I remember REH. I had one of their  1/32 scale  Cox Cucarachas.  Dan
