Now that the ~2" of snow has melted and the yeti have gone back to the artic circle, I've started sifting through the ashes. Here's what I've found so far.

Having been inspired by the basket cases that Martin has resurrected, I decided to try my luck. Armed with the following items, I proceeded.

Without much effort, it seems to be proceeding well. I'll disassemble the rest later and proceed with the cleaning. It's strange that certain parts the same chassis have been effected more than other parts. 🤔

I think a small barrel tumbler would serve you well. They do a lot of cleaning with little time and effort.

It's just starting to thaw out.
The magnets are still strong, a good sign. The purple arrow is pointing to a separation in the can. Don't remember that being there. A ballpean hammer and a can straightening tool should do the trick.
Time to retrieve some equipment from my slot car crypt.

After you squeeze those can sections together. solder the seams on the outside of the can with silver solder. They'll never separate again. This is how I repaired broken spot-welds on Slotworks 16Ds.

Billnh, I'm going to have to figure out what plan B * is.
Seems that the rotor motor uses tabs incorporated into the can to retain the magnets. The anvils (?) currently available do not have provisions for this. Not sure how much bending the tabs** will withstand without catastrophic failure.

I suggest you try the can straighting tool, and if it doesn't work

I cut two grooves top & bottom of my straighteners with a Dremel for the tabs to slide into. I think
I did that for both C & D cans.

Though about that. I'm going to put it on the back burner for now and move on to the other ones.
Are the magnets glued in?(on the rotor)

And to think, there were two on the card with the header. I'm amazed at what survived and what didn't.

Wow! Thanks Dave, for all these years I thought that I had Blue Cheer on toooo loud and imagined that episode. Right, as if you can play Parchment Farm 🔊LOUD enough!!!

Soap and water had no effect, break clean, likewise. Having nothing to lose, I tried a Mr. Clean magical eraser. The only thing that could have easier is if Samantha had done it.

Have you tried cleaners such as Simple Green or Ammonia?

Nope,I was in a generic home supply today and I looked at several cleaners including simple green. I was actually looking for a soot eraser and the "magic eraser " made me think about Elizabeth Montgomery (then I thought about her and Charles Bronson on the Twilight Zone) And, to my surprise, it worked.
The track in the first photo is actually jet black.
To rewind a bit, for a change I got lucky with the rotor can. The 16-D anvil (?) Fit in just enough to be able to close the gap enough to repair it. More on that later.
I was approaching being board beyond recognition and decided that the probability of Samantha showing up and twitching her nose,or anything else, is a bazillion to one. The only alternative was to setup(finally)a couple of 1/32 tracks.
I'll post them under that forum soon.
