With Chance Overholt stepping down, Mike Katz has agreed to take his seat.

Mike races in the Retro East series and was there in the beginning when the series was founded by Noose and Tony P.  On top of being a respected racer, Mike is also known for his chassis building skills.

Mike's slot racing 'career' predates Retro East by quite a bit. He began racing in the 1960s, I am pretty certain.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Mike participated in a Modelville Hobby Car Model race on the first MVH Sovereign in Framingham, MA during 1969 or 70. I was a spectator.

I have known Mike a very long time. When I first started Retro racing in 2007, I had a lot of problems with the car not being set up properly Falling off it wouldn't handle at all. Mike came up to me and said let me see your car. He made all of these adjustments to the car and I was actually able to have a decent race day. I have seen Mike do that all the time. He is an honest straightforward guy who was very talented as a driver and as a builder. He has no preconceived agenda other than his love for retro racing. Mike would be an asset to any organization I am so pleased that he is on the board.

Good going, Mike!  Thank you in advance for lifting the bureaucratic lead, wearing the hairshirt,

for all of us.

Let's work together, people.

And by the way, I encourage everyone to invite a friend or acquaintance

to see, and/or participate in, a slot car race this month.  Bring somebody!

Offer to drive them, feed them.  Get a controller in their hand.  Let their

heart and brain do the rest.
