Not much new here but still interesting.

During the '60s, my next-door neighbor in Maine had a friend who owned a red 427 Cobra. I occasionally saw that beast run on the road. Someone here in NH has a restored 6-cylinder AC sports car that's driven on the street. It usually comes to the annual Manchester outdoor car show.

Good friend and high school buddy Greg Lonberger once owned a 427S/C previously owned by Carroll Shelby. Sold to a customer, who immediately drove it off a cliff in Florida, Greg bought the car from the insurance company for scrap value. He spent many years restoring the car, salvaging most of the body by tin-pecking it back out. He was able to borrow the original bucks from Shelby to help him get the body right.  He was so proud of his metal work, he drove the car for many years in bare, polished aluminum. He finally painted it in the original blue with white stripes. He vintage raced the car with the VSCDA after going along to an event at Blackhawk Farms. I believe this car is now in the Shelby American museum in Bolder, Colo.

 

 

 

 

 

In addition, Greg owned one of the original GT-40s. Number GT-104. He bought it as a basket case, but died before he could finish it. The GT-40 is also at the Shelby Museum.
