Coupes on the Figure 8 – 4/28/26
This week’s MVH Tuesday Night Retro race featured GT Coupes on the Figure 8. Eight racers headed to tech with the race run in the 4-on/4-off format over sixteen heats, running the outside four lanes first, then moving to the inside four lanes.
The Field of Eight:
Noah Ball was the class of the field as early in the race he pulled away from everyone and never looked back. By the change to the inside lanes Noah had logged 223 laps, good for a seven-lap lead over Dave Panich in second, while Nick Ball, with 199 laps, was in third, 17 laps down to Dave. Richard Payne was in the hunt, three laps behind Nick, while Bob Blanchette trailed Richard by four at 192 with Rolly Lapierre Jr. just one lap behind. Justin Fisk and Steven Sacchetti closed out the field.
The inside lanes weren’t kind to Nick and he dropped out with one heat to run. Meanwhile, at the front of the pack, Noah stretched his lead to take the win by 21 laps over Dave. Richard benefited from Nick’s woes, taking the final podium step by a fifteen-lap margin over fourth place finisher Bob. The close racing on the night was further back in the field where Rolly edged Justin for sixth by just one lap as both drivers posted identical fast-lap times.
Noah was posting laps in the 3.0s on multiple lanes and most likely had the fastest lap of the night, but his recorded fast lap was a rider. Half the field posted their fastest laps on green.
