Even a rainy Saturday was unable to dampen our enthusiasm for our first chance to race our new JK 1/32 scale cars. We chose the three-piece version. Just as expected, these chassis handle well, and the included Hawk 7 motors with 11/35 gearing were fast and nimble on The Doghouse 75-foot track. Again, we chose our enduro format, with each racer running each of the four lanes for three minutes, using the assigned color-coded car on each lane. So, if one racer operated a car on its lane a bit faster and ran up a few more laps than the others cars were able to achieve, each racer would have their crack at doing the same thing.
Richard painted four Peugeot Ultimate 1/32 bodies: red, yellow, white, and black. Each racer ran the exact same car on the same lane as everyone else. It's simple, and it really is a blast.
For this rainy day, we had six racers...four on the track while two served as turn marshals. Participating this day were Doghouse Proprietor Richard Sylvester, Dan Parker, Dr. Marty Cwiakala, David Erickson, Bob Arneson, and yours truly.
We ran two races of six heats to accommodate all six racers, then took the total from both. Heats were fast, and totals were good!
So, another fun race is in the books. We hope to have another race very soon, as Dr. C is leaving us for Austin, Texas, in June. Marty is one of our original racers, and we'll all miss him. Our loss is Austin's gain. We wish him and his lovely wife, Peg, the very best.
