I'm not certain if this has been posted, but Dallas Slot Cars has permanently closed effective April 30, 2026.

 

Jay Howard's death and a crazy rent increase of almost double left Shontel with no other choice but to shutter the doors.

 

Lonny Getso saved the flat track and currently plans to erect a building on his Waxahatchie property, restore the track, and set it up for possible club racing. I am not certain where the drag strip ended up.

 

Plans are still fluid and no firm date has been set as yet.

I wasn't even aware they existed! I'm in the Coppell area, have four-lane at home. 

 

Are there any clubs in the Dallas area?

Dallas Slot cars had been listed in Slotblog's Raceway List from Aug 2008 until I deleted it two days ago, thus almost 18 years.

 

Did you ever look in the list for raceways in Texas?

I Googled it (slots tracks near me), found them once, website didn't load. I never looked here, my mistake.

It's always sad news to hear of another raceway closing.
