My Eclipse HP-CS is less than one year old. Recently I had it partially dissasembled on my bench, got my feet entangled with the hose and it fell to the floor... damaged the nozzle and the needle. I ordered a new nozzle and needle, assuming that was all I needed. Therein started a journey that became one step forward and two steps back. The new nozzle has been redesigned. 

 

It requires a new nozzle cap. There is a conversion kit that no one told me about. I learned this searching the website for Midwest Airbrush Supply. Their website is phenominal with schematics, etc.  They are out of the conversion kits and no one else even lists them. I've had to order one piece at a time from different vendors.

I use Gaahleri airbrushes. I wouldn't run into those issues with Gaahleri. That reminds me, I have a custom Aventus tailor made I need to try!

 

You might want to try the GHAC-98D, it's amazing, especially if you get it while on a sale.

Are these the conversion kits?

 

 

They've had these for a few years. I bought my HP-CS from Hobby Lobby in 2022 and replaced the stock .35 combo with a .5 kit right after I bought it. I spray mostly metallic and pearl paints and the .5 works better with these type of paints.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who tripped on the hose and dropped the air brush! I bought a A Paasche because it was in the 77 Auto World catalog. No,I didn't buy the same one. It has 0 instructions, the rods and snozels have the identifying markings engraved in moon writing (you have to hold it in a certain position at a certain moon phase).
Aside from that, it's a up grade from my plastic version and my 85 Badger,also plastic. Funny thing, I think I did better using the Badger for lacquer and the Paasche for acrylic (the seals don't like lacquer)

I was a $20 airbrush Harbor Freight fan for the first few years of doing Caveman Bodeez. That was all fast squirt production work, but it did ok for the purpose. They would last about a year before it wore out. For $20, it was an easy choice.

 

Anything custom and I got out one of my other brushes.

Gaahleri GHAC-99D use the same type of needle, nozzle, cap system as the Iwata. You have to replace all 3 pieces when you change to a different needle size.

Of course. You can't expect to swap a smaller needle for a larger one without changing the nozzle too. However, on the Gaahleri the end cap is universal amongst some models from what I recall.

 

The issue with the Iwata Bill is that they changed the design of the nozzle - so Milton didn't purchase the original one he damaged, he got the newly designed version, which requires a new end cap.

 

The bottom line here is, Milton should've done his homework thoroughly before ordering parts, unless he ordered directly from Iwata. And I don't know if that's possible or not.

The current nozzle on the Eclipse is similar to what you would find on Harder & Steenbeck, Badger, and Gaahleri airbrushes. Some of the Iwata models do use a smaller screw in nozzle which is similar to the GSI Creos airbrushes. I guess I'm not following when the nozzle design of the Eclipse was redesigned. 

 

The HP-CS that I purchased 4 years ago has the exact same .35 nozzle and nozzle cap as shown in the .35 "conversion" from Midwest Airbrush. The Iwata web site also shows the same .35 nozzle and cap on their web site, so it doesn't appear that they've changed the design in at least the past 4 years. Yes, you can order parts directly from Iwata. As I recall, it's less expensive to order from Midwest Airbrush or Spray Gunner than directly from Iwata.
