It saddened today me to learn of the recent passing of Jeff 'Rotorranch' Chambers, who was a fixture of Atlanta area slot racing for over 35 years.

Jeff was Tim's righthand man when the 1990 USRA Nats were held at Tim Ferguson's Georgia Hobby Center in Fayetteville, GA, in 1990. Jeff later operated the excellent Speedway Slot Cars raceway in Fayetteville for many years.

I'm told Jeff passed last month and hope to learn the exact date of his passing in a couple of days. No obituary is expected to be published.

RIP, my good friend.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I never knew Jeff except through his posts on OWH and here. I do recall his numerous posts he made while he was preparing to open his raceway. I think it was in a former garage or gas station building. He also posted photos and info about the cars he ran at his raceway.

I knew Jeff for years from slot car raceways around Atlanta. Jeff had his raceway after he worked with Tim at Georgia Hobby, and later was a huge part of starting Speed Zone in Peachtree City.

He loved his slot cars and his Mazdas, almost always painted blue. He lived just outside Fayetteville and I would see him driving around town or at the auto parts store.

I understood he was in poor health and had not seen him for some years

RIP, Jeff.
