When my wife, Jeannette, and I travel around the US, we plot a route and schedule to take in as many slot car raceways as will fit in our trip. This year was our third visiting Speedway Slot Car Racing in Slidell, LA. David Probst is a warm and welcoming host, and both Jeannette and I enjoy our visit. On our very first visit, David had to show off his women's restroom to Jeannette, and let her know if was for her exclusive use being the only woman in the place that day. The restrooms, both men's and women's, were pristine and continue to be so on each following visit. The whole raceway is always clean and tidy, and each year Jeannette offers her compliments. It's a continuing dialogue in how to run a raceway between Jeannette and David.

I should have known something was up when we pulled up in front of the raceway this year. We always call ahead, so David was aware we would be arriving and came outside to greet us. No sooner had Jeannette gotten out of the car then David whisked her away inside, where I followed a few minutes later after unloading my gear. Once inside, I discovered Jeannette had been taken to see the remodeling of the restrooms. After our visit last year and the accolades Jeannette had previously given the restrooms, David's nephew, Steve Hughes, decided he wanted to do something special to make them a cut above. The finished product includes baseboards and crown molding, fresh paint – purple for the women and red for the men, a stylish vanity, mirror, and paper roll holder for the ladies, even a plush rug in front of the ladies' toilet. See the photos below, first the women's and then the men's. Not your typical raceway restroom.

Bravo, Steve and David!

Not necessarily the nicest, per se, but I do appreciate that Lanes Raceway does an exceptional job of maintaining its restrooms. They are always clean and well stocked with supplies, in our experience.

Years ago racing at Fast Tracks in Londonderry, NH, the rest room was ajacent to their American red track (with the D donut). During a flexi race, Ralph Griffin got bumped on the bank, flew off the track, through the open rest room door and landed in the toilet. We had to stop the race and gave him three points for the "goal." After cleaning his car, it ran better than before. We kept the rest room door shut afterwards.

Those two rooms look nice. My first three home tracks. starting in 1967, didn't provide restrooms. It wasn't until '96 when Queen City Speedway opened that my home raceway came with restrooms. C&C in Coventry, CT, which I often visited monthly in the early & mid '70s was located an old mill building that had toilets.

My dad worked for a grain company many years. He put a ,6" pipe through the floor way out in the warehouse. Then, he made & posted a sign close by that read "In case of an air raid, get under here. No one has hit it yet."

I'd kill for a raceway within a 100 miles with an outhouse.

They are some of the best looking rest rooms i think I've seen that is for sure.

We do not get any like that out here in Australia that is for sure.

A toilet, a sink and a electric hand dryer is about all we get and i guess it does the job.

I do like the do not flush slot car warning that is awesome.

I’m Gona chime in here.
In 2023 we went to Port Jeff for their yearly Barnburner race.
During our visit, Alice and I noticed how clan the restrooms were kept.

They were kept clean and stocked several times throughout each day during the event.
