Here is a project that was in my opinion way too much work, but, it was for a friend, so I had little choice
It is a Scaley/SCX Chaparral 2E that needed to be improved in looks/performance, which was not too hard.
The starting point... this is not the actual car (this is a shot stolen from "Images"),...the actual car was a bit worse for wear.
It is a "clamshell" design, which is generally not an issue, but, on this car there are slots molded into the upper/lower bodywork, which hold the rear end detail, and these all had to be ground away in order that the bits could be re installed, once the top/bottom body bits were glued.

I started with the chassis (the easiest part for me), and a single rail (.047) chassis was built... it has a softish torsional flex, and handles very well with its 18K motor.
And the finished rolling chassis...
After way too much grinding/sanding/painting, and several bits made/added, I ended up with this.
The mesh on all the intakes/vents is from a Dollar store strainer... looks a ton better than the stock plastic molded bits.
