I started slot racing in 1961 in Costa Mesa, CA. the beginning cost of building a car was maybe $25 and we raced all our neighbors and friends. With the advent of unlimited $$$ spent on slot cars – I was quickly disenchanted with slot racing. Simple rules and cost ceilings would have extended this hobby for decades instead of it dying a quick death. Nearly all forms of racing have rules and economics guiding their organizations. But it is what it is – history!
