F-1 on the Royal – 6/30/26
F-1 on the American Royal was on the schedule for this week’s MVH Tuesday Night Retro race. With ten racers heading to tech, racing was on the middle six lanes with four marshals over ten heats.
Ten F-1 Cars in Tech:
Ray Lee picked up where he left off the last time we raced F-1 on the Royal, posting the fastest lap times and leading the pack. In fact, Ray was so fast he was breaking out (and setting lap times well below the existing NERR track record), which required stopping the race so the breakout time could be lowered. Cody Pare’ was pushing to keep but, thanks to his efforts, found himself frequently out of the slot and losing ground. Meanwhile, Bob “Woody” Hazelwood and Dave Panich, with three heats to go, were tied in a fight for the final podium position.
When the checkered flag flew, Ray took the win, posting just under 386 laps, with Cody finishing second, six laps back. In the fight for third, Woody prevailed by six laps over Dave. Rick Pare’ was the best of the rest, taking fifth by less than a lap over Joe Yates.
Ray posted the fastest lap of the night with a 3.512 on orange with the next fastest lap set by Cody, over a tenth slower at 3.631.
