I have tried to contact Jeff Goldberg, who used to build these, with no luck. In know he is involved in some of the Mid-America controllers design, so you may have luck trying to contact him through Roger Schmitt.
The first generation with brake and release, is just a conventional transistor controller for the power circuit. The brake is more complicated, and uses a small microprocessor to control a FET for the brake and release timer.
The second, more budget-friendly generation, I believe used PWM for both brake and power circuit, but I'm not totally sure.
If you can add some more details, about which model you have, and what the problem is, I believe somebody may be able to help you.
Because light travels faster than sound, some people appear to be bright until we hear them speaking.

I have both a Linear 100 and a Linear 200 (thanks to Guillermo for hooking me up with the L200), and I've worked a bit on both, so, depending on the problem, I might be able to help you. Both use a traditional BJT throttle, but the L200 has the microprocessor-controlled "brake-and-release" brakes.
I've tried to contact Jeff a couple of times, too, with no success, but here's a link to a capture of his website on the Wayback Machine that has links to the documentation for both controllers, if that might be helpful.

PWM is generally more complicated and thus more expensive, so I wouldn't expect a budget-friendly controller to use this. I know I can build a non-PWM controller using FETs or bipolar transistors (BJT) with fewer parts at less cost.
Whether Jason or I can assist you with a controller repair depends on what's wrong (symptoms) and whether this can be fixed with current readily available parts or would need something obsolete or exclusive to JayGee.
