Out there in the online world, someone said they were starting a public slot car track in New Braunfels, TX.

If this finds you or you know who it is who is planning it, please let us know the details including anticipated opening date.

Since Jim Honeycutt is in San Antonio and not far away, he may know something about this. He certainly filled me in on Texas slot car racing when I visited his raceway in June.

There used to be a Texas Slot Racing Forum on Eccoboard which was moved to Slotcars.net, but I see that forum has been hacked and is down while being restored.

I will ask Jim when I visit Magnatech Raceway next but I was hoping to find out something before then.

Such a pity that some raceways choose to keep their existence a secret.

Slot racing and the famous Schlitterbahn Water Park all in the same town. Not a bad day of fun.

I'm in the area and I've only heard about a private/club track coming to San Antonio area.

If I find out anymore info I'll post up.

They're will be some 1/32 plastic chassis racing on Sunday at Magnatech, MG, if you would like to come by.

When I visited Magnetech in June, Jim H. told me one of his customers had purchased the All-Tech 220' that was in St. Paul, MN. He asked the customer what he was planning to do with that track and was told it would be his private track.

P.A. Watson has moved his Gerding King to a private location in Porter, TX, someone with a building to house their auto and petroliana collection with an extra 4000 sq.ft. P.A. is able to host races in this location, and Jim H. told me about slotcars.net as the forum site where P.A. has been posting information on racing at this location. I looked at the forum with Jim at the raceway and again after I returned home, but a banner at the address now indicates the site was hacked and destroyed and will be offline until it can be restored from backups. P.A. had posted photos of the King in this location, and it's a really nice space.

There were rumors emanating from Dallas Slot Cars prior to the closure indicating there were some new raceways coming around the DFW Metroplex, though I haven't noticed Facebook activity for any. I hadn't seen anything regarding Capitol City Raceway in Pflugerville, TX in some time, and in perusing slotcars.net I discovered they were posting race announcements on slotcars.net as well. That seemed to be the source for Texas slot car racing info. P.A. Watson use to admin a Texas Slot Racing Forum on Eccoboard which still exists but hasn't been updated by anyone since Watson closed his Houston raceway.

I may be just rumor-mongering but I heard Lonnie Getso was going to resurrect his facility in Waxahatchie... when I raced there previously, he had an original American blue King set up in a metal warehouse type building... no A/C... even with large fans blowing, it was hot and sweaty racing there... I won the very first 'official' race held on that King track, a flexi NASCAR race...

That's interesting about Lonnie Getso, because I remember seeing all the tracks for sale a while ago.

IIRC slotcars.net has pages from the past saved on the Internet Archive, for what that might be worth.
