Yes, the roof lines resemble 1962 Chevy Impala I had at one time

Both the Starfire and the Impala sport roof have the same base. Only the outer sheet metal are different. Engines and interior are different.

The same roof was used on '63 & '64 Impalas.

Yes. GM kept that platform for several years. It was typical for American automakers to use the same basic platforms for several models and even other badges within their parent company back then.
