This 1/24th scale MESAC Porsche 911 was just restored. Victor sent the body and a box of parts to me to complete the car. Thanks, Victor.
The car was originally built by MESAC member Ron Von Klein. Ron also made the body mold and produced the vacuform body. The body is patterned after an early short wheelbase long hood Porsche 911. The body mold was made by Ron out of plaster. Ron added the sliding sunroof which is an interesting detail.
It took a bit of work to fit the body to the chassis. The body was unwarped and a portion of one rocker panel was replaced. The interior was recreated using a Revell model kit dashboard and a Russkit interior. Missing stripes were added back and the body touched up. I will add an exhaust pipe one day.
The brass and wire frame just needed some solder joints repaired. The 36D motor screws into the chassis with two self-tapping screws, and the motor fits perfectly. The large motor is kind of an odd choice in my opinion. Victor says there were MESAC classes with this motor, and MESAC members had an almost unlimited supply of these motors. Jerry says, "big motor in a little car." Wheels are Russkit, and some fish tires were cut for the rears. The front tires are MESAC Firestones. The guide flag is an MRRC.
Wonderful car to restore. Time for a track test.
