Coupes on the Aristocrat – 9/22/26

 

GT Coupes headed to the American Aristocrat for this week’s MVH Tuesday Night Retro race. The field featured just six starters with the race run in the 3-on/3-off format, driving the inside lanes first, then the outside lanes, all over sixteen heats.  

 

Coupes in Tech:

 

John Mills has been working on his set-up and driving recently and tonight it appeared to be paying off as he led the race at the move to the inside lanes with 138 laps, one lap ahead of second-place driver Dave Panich. Joe Yates was in third, at 133 laps, while Richard Payne trailed by five more. Rolly Lapierre Jr. was three laps behind Richard and three ahead of Steven Sacchetti.

 

After the move to the inside lanes, Dave found his groove as John struggled with the blue lane. When time ran out, Dave took the win by six laps. Joe and Richard were racing even on the inside lanes, but in the end Joe’s first half lead put him comfortably on the bottom step of the podium. Likewise, Rolly and Stephen had an equal number of laps on the inside lanes, giving Rolly fifth place based on his outside-lane lead.

 

Dave posted the fastest time of the night with a 4.391 on purple while John’s best time of 4.541, also on purple, was the second fastest time of the night.
