Formula 1 on the King – 9/29/26

 

For the second time this month it was back to the Gerding King to run F-1 this week in the MVH Tuesday Night Retro series. Ten drivers went through tech with racing on the middle six lanes over ten heats.

 

Ten F-1 Cars in Tech:

 

By the end of the first heat Noah Ball had logged four more laps, was over two-tenths faster than anyone else, and appeared to be on his way to an easy win. However, F-1 has a way of being unpredictable, and after a collision in the lead-on destroyed his guide flag he missed almost two full heats and fell out of the running.

 

Meanwhile, four racers, Ray Lee, Woody Hazelwood, Rob Hayes and Dave Panich, were posting similar lap totals and vying for a podium finish. Further back in the field, Nick Ball, Richard Payne and Joe Yates were racing for fifth, with Rolly Lapierre Jr. and Steven Sacchetti closing out the field. 

 

Dave’s podium hopes were dashed with a bent chassis and then a spun gear, leaving Ray, Woody and Rob to sort out the podium order. When time ran out, Ray took the win by just over three laps while Woody got the best of Rob by just over a lap. Noah returned to the track and, while not placing, posted the fastest lap of the night with a 4.020 on green.

 

Dave placed fourth, four laps off the podium and eight up on Nick in fifth while Richard was two laps back in sixth. Joe was another four laps behind while Rolly trailed by ten in eighth. Noah failed to catch Steven and settled for tenth.

        NERR Race No. 3 will be held at Rooster’s Raceway in Soutwick, MA on Saturday,  October 17^th, 2026.

        This event will feature:

              GT Coupes on the Hillclimb        

              Can-Am on the Hillclimb

        Rooster's will be open for practice from 5:00 pm to closing on Oct 7, 13th and 14th, and will, of course, be open the evening prior to the race.
