The two final awards given out at the 2021 Fall Brawl XII are the Overall Champion award and the Iron Man award.

The Iron Man award goes to the racer who advanced the most number of times during the two Tier 1 move-up classes, F1 and Can-Am. This year's Iron Man plaque goes to 70-year old Eddie 'Edsel' Sohl, who advanced through four Mains. Congrats, Edsel!

 

 

The Overall Champion belt goes to the racer who accumulates the most points in the four main classes. Points are earned by the racer's finishing positions combined with points awarded for any TQ earned.

 

This year's Fall Brawl XII Overall Champion is Mike 'Biscuit' Bresett. Congrats, Biscuit!

 

 

A few final words...

 

I believe the Fall Brawl is arguably the most competitive Retro race anywhere. Your opinion may vary.

What Keith Libby accompished this year in F1 and Can-Am is simply incredible, especially considering his physical challenges. I am pretty certain he led both the F1 and Can-Am A Mains from start to finish. I don't think that's ever been done before.

Total entries in the six classes contested at the Fall Brawl XII was 149, with 90 entries in F1 and Can-Am alone. 

If you don't make plans to attend the Fall Brawl XIII next year now, well, you'll be missing some of the best 1/24 slot racing in the world, no question.

??? If Keith won F1 and Can-Am, how did Mike win overall?
 
I believe the overall goes to the best in all four classes (not just Tier 1) and Keith dropped out of the Pro Coupe race.

Keith had only .5 points in Stock Car - blown gear.

I stand corrected. I knew Keith had trouble in one race and Mike finished well in all four, thus overall champ.

I have corrected my original erroneous post regarding this point. I knew better, just a brain fart.

Just curious, did Ed change motors for each move up or did the CR102 last for more than one race?

Ed did change motors but not because there was any problem with them. The first main he ran the motor had eight races on it and he had plenty of fresh ones ready to go. He changed them each main looking for more speed. I was there when he changed them.

I ran three mains also and my motor has many other races on it. Had plenty of speed and brakes.

Ed ran the last two mains with his Coupe hand-out motor. So three races on it now.

I started from the C Main with my motor and used it for the B Main and A Main. Turned the same exact laps in the C and B Main and would have done very similar in the A Main. If anything, it felt a little faster in the A Main.

The last few posts say a lot about the consistency and durability of the 102 motors, but I think most of us had that figured out.

It was a great race, even the slower guys were doing 5.3s.

Were the races noticeably rougher or pretty much the same as past years?

It's better than dealing with the two-speed/shifter motors like we have the past couple years.

A black cloud was lifted off the racers!

Yeah, CR102 was much better all around and much more consistent brakes, all good in my book.  

 

The only thing I didn't like was having to thrash to find the right pinion for each class of car. I really think a spec 11 tooth pinion would work good enough for everything and totally eliminate that bit of thrashing.

 

Of course, that had nothing to do with the races which I thought went great. Big two thumbs-up to Mike Iles, Mic Byrd, Don Perry, and the rest of the crew who put on a great race.

 

I'm planning on attending next year.
