Can you share the link for what you by at McMaster=Carr? I have looked on there before and seen a few things that would probably work but not sure what part number everyone else buys.

If you search dampening tape there is a thread on here with the McMaster-Carr part number.
Obsessed is the word the lazy use to describe the dedicated.

Not to say there's anything wrong with the silicone rubber tape but I initially did dampening in the Seventies using duct tape, both on top of and under the chassis, and it still works fine.
Call it harmonics deadening, movement limiting or whatever...
This was when we were transitioning to steel center section chassis and it was obvious that they were not as "dead" as soldered brass/piano wire. It helped to smooth some of the "twitchiness" of lighter weight chassis.

In some places it is known as BS tape.

The cool aid must be extra stiff these days.
Lighten up, your negative commentary is unnecessary.

I agree with David. Given the size, rigidity, weight, relative short length and small amount of force acting upon the chassis components, it doesn't seem likely that any meaningful amount of vibration is present in the chassis.

You wouldn't need it racing FCRs & womps.

What some forget is to us on our scale the vibration might not seem much but on the scale of the chassis it can be huge. Just remember how a 1/16" in wheel base or guidelead can change a car. The tape has an effect. While some my not believe so there is still much which supports it.I agree with David. Given the size, rigidity, weight, relative short length and small amount of force acting upon the chassis components, it doesn't seem likely that any meaningful amount of vibration is present in the chassis.

I agree but when I ran a few borroweed retro cars I noticed some were more "dead" than others and that gave a level of smoothness and confidence to push the car harder. One was even had brass rails.
Never really bought iinto the red tape club but it might dampen the spring in a metal chassis.
