Defining "motion limiting" as not being "dampening" does not make it so...

Jimbo that doesn't make any sense. They are absolutely two entirely different things.

If you've ever ovaled a rim, tape will do nothing. Rubber will, however, mask it by,by definition. The slightest deformation (in the rim) will reak havoc. Which is,imo, the only drawback to rubber. Some other factors, bent arm shaft, out of balance arm, and, my favorite, worn bearings, motor or axle. Those are just my observations .
Although, vibration can create motion, I've been under the impression that, the motion(s)

It has a little more elasticity than the strapping tape used by others.

I personally don't think the lack of filaments in the tape means that it's stretchy. What kind of tape is it?

Stupid phone.
The motion(s) that tape is used for are, for the most part, predictable.

Phil, filament is the equivalent of reinforcement rod in concrete. A very simplified comparison.

Not so much (in this case we're not defining the terms, just using them). The gel tape doesn't just limit movement, it also dampens it, eh?

Regardless, the quibble is silly.

Metal vibrates, chassis vibrate, using stuff to tone down vibrations (which are movements) is what we're doing, as well as stopping the body from riding up onto the pans.

Anywaaaaay...Let's move on to whether all these new thicker guides actually cause more friction or not. LOL

I'm ok with that.
I've tried a weighted guide. I'm not sure if I like it or not. When I first started, I put a 1 1/2" knockout from a electrical box on my 1/32 Ferrari 512. I found out quickly it's like getting stuck in the snow. The wgf is not as bad but, I had/have a lot more tyer testing to do.

I just found a ad for a tapered cut down guide from Mid-America. Is that what you're referring to? I feel like I'm using Google lens, tape, tapered. Stimulus generalization or, massive thread drift?

Was thinking about harmonics and found this.

Yellow brass – Most trumpets are made with this metal. It's a very resonant alloy made up of 70% copper, which produces a bright and direct tone that cuts through with ease. Gold brass has a slightly darker colour because of the 85% copper content in the alloy.

If you can correctly post the Brinell or in Rockwell hardness of each....
Here's Don Pardo to tell you what you'll win

Due to the fact that the judges are totally lacking in mental capacity, they were looking for a specific number. A link is beyond their comprehension(and mine).

Whether it's spelled colour or color depends on what country you're in. My American spell check program says it's color. On the other hand, my wife of 45 yrs. is an Irish subject born in England. Over the years, I've gotten used to a lot of odd words & mispronunciations.  :laugh2:

Rob V,due to the heat wave, you don't loose a attaboy and, it will not go on your permanent record.

As RPM's increase,so does the natural frequency and amplitude of the vibration (s) The fact that the motor is mounted Ridgid (most of the time) compounds this.
Yes, there's a quiz afterwards.
RonV. gets (2) two more attaboys for being able to hear the difference in tone of different types of brass

OK, I have been notified (thanks Samiam )  that I have been using the wrong term in this discussion and rather than sneakily going back and editing my posts I felt it was my duty to report my abysmal misuse of the English language and apologise to all concerned.

No doubt many of you are aware that me admitting ignorance regarding English is akin to an anal root canal but there it is. Sorry.

The terms in particular are damp and damping not dampen and dampening.

The former applies to what we are discussing, while the latter have more to do with wet cardboard and diapers.

I hope this apology stops the understandable thread drift that such errors can engender and we can get back to the topic. For instance...whether the rubberising of slot car chassis softens the impact with a wall or another car.
